   Ron Henry, the Spurs full back of the 1950s and 1960s, who was one of only four players who were ever-present in the Double season, but who went on to serve the club in a number of positions well into the 1990s, died today in a hospice in Harpenden, Hertfordshire today.  MEHSTG sends condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Ryan Mason might be in for a place in the starting line-up tomorrow against Manchester United after coming through the second half of the game at Leicester City on Friday, while Hugo Lloris will take his place between the sticks after picking up a cut mouth from a bad challenge by a Foxes forward.
   MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM NEWS : -  Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj will sit the match out and Angel di Maria is a doubt with a pelvic injury, although Luke Shaw resumes his place in the squad after an ankle injury.

   It is being reported the DeAndre Yedlin, our US international full back who has been back on loan at his old club Seattle Sounders, has been granted a work permit and will be joining Spurs in January.  It appears that the 21 year old defender has been granted a Governing Body Endorsement, which means he does not need the Latvian passport he would have got through his mother's side of the family to become an EU citizen.
   The Sun on Sunday claim Spurs will make a £25 million bid for West Bromwich Albion's England Under-21 striker Saido Berahino on 1st January.
   Andros Townsend is being linked with a move to Sunderland in today's media, along with QPR and Newcastle United.
   Meanwhile, Tottenham have once more been linked with £3.5 million Rennes winger Paul-Georges Ntep.
   Tottenham's Under-18s beat Black Rock 1-0 after extra time with Shayon Harrison netting the only goal of the final of the IMG Cup in Florida.

   MEHSTG's spin story ... It appears that hooliganism is being back by the West Ham United management as Fat Sam today pronounced that "West Ham are breaking barriers in Premier League".

   Spurs are rumoured to be in advanced talks with FC Porto over the signing of striker Jackson Martinez and are said to be favourites to sign the Colombian international.
   Aaron Lennon is a target for Internazionale of Italy with 28 year old Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin being offered in part-exchange as Roberto Mancini is keen to take the England winger to Milan.
   QPR are said to want to take Andros Townsend on loan during the January transfer window for the remainder of the season.
   Tottenham's Youth team lost 0-1 to the US National U17 team, but still headed their group and progress to the final to play Black Rock on Sunday.  However, the match was abandoned two minutes early because of a brawl on the pitch that saw the majority of the US bench flood onto the pitch to get involved.

   BURNLEY TEAM NEWS : -  The Clarets will be without  Michael Duff (calf), Matt Taylor (calf), Sam Vokes (knee) and Stephen Ward (ankle), but defender Ben Mee is fit again after illness.

   Tottenham's League Cup semi-final against Sheffield United will be played with the first leg at home on Wednesday 21st January 2015 kicking off at 19.45 and the second leg away at Bramall Lane with a kick off at the same time.

Arsenal (home)  Saturday 7th February 2015 will now kick off at 12.45
Liverpool (away) Tuesday 10th February 2015 is unchanged with a 20.00 kick off
West Ham United (home)  Sunday 22nd February 2015 has had the kickoff changed to 12.00
Queens Park Rangers (away) will now take place on Sunday 1st March 2015 - unless Spurs are involved in the League Cup final, in which case the QPR game will be postponed.
   Southampton striker and Spurs transfer target Jay Rodriguez has been ruled out for another six weeks before he can return to training after a set-back in his recovery from a knee ligament injury.
   Spurs' Youth side beat FC Toluca 2-0 in Miami today in the IMG Cup with goals from Cameron Carter-Vickers and Ryan Loft.
   The Youth team will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Youth Cup Fourth Round at Dagenham & Redbridge FC on Thursday 22nd January 2015 with the kick off at 19.00.

   Tottenham beat Newcastle United 4-0 at White Hart Lane tonight in the League Cup.  For a match report click here.
   Spurs have been drawn to play Sheffield United in the semi-finals of the League Cup.  The first leg will be at home on 20th/21st January and the away leg on 27th/28th January.
   Tottenham may be the subject of a £1 billion takeover by the Qatari government under their Qatar Investment Authority company, who already own Paris St. Germain.  The Qatar Sports Minster Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali hinted that he might have been a Spurs fan when younger and that the government were keen to buy  a Premier League club.
   The Daily Express claims Spurs will look to move on Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor in the January transfer window so that they can bring in FC Porto and Colombia striker Jackson Martinez.
   The Daily Star claims that Mauricio Pochettino is going to take the Spurs players to walk over hot coals, as it is something he did with Southampton and believes it bonds the team together.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will have Kyle Naughton available for selection again after regaining fitness, but Emmanuel Adebayor is not yet match fit after returning to training after a visit to Africa for personal reasons.
   NEWCASTLE UNITED TEAM NEWS : -  Injury problems persist in plaguing Alan Pardew as he approaches this League Cup quarter final.  Keepers Tim Krul and Rob Elliott are both out, with defenders Curtis Good and Ryan Taylor side-lined, Rolando Aarons, Siep De Jong, Gabriel Obertan and Davide Santon all missing.  Now Papiss Cisse has a heavy cold and Mike Williamson has a slight hamstring pull, as well as Chieck Tiote, who has a strain in his thigh.  This could mean a start for young striker Adam Armstrong.

   Vlad Chiriches is becoming a wanted man all across Europe, with AS Roma, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.
   Spurs and QPR are being linked to Ryan Manning of the Republic of Ireland club Galway  The 18 year old can play in the midfield or up front and would cost around £3 million.

   Spurs have been fined £11,870 by UEFA for the three pitch invaders in the game against Partizan Belgrade at White Hart Lane last month.
   Crystal Palace are the latest club to be linked with Kyle Naughton should he be allowed to leave White Hart Lane.
   17 year old winger Bilal Ould-Chikh of FC Twente Enschede in Holland is said to be a target in January for Spurs, but other big clubs might make a move for the young Dutchman.
   Rumours are circulating that Brentford are preparing a £2 million bid for Alex Pritchard, who is on loan there from Spurs.  Not only that, but Burnley, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all watching the situation with a view to entering the bidding for the England Under-21 midfielder.
   Tottenham are eyeing a £3 million move for 22 year old Sassuolo defender Sime Vrsaljko.  The Croatian international can also play in either full back position and in midfield and Spurs were linked with him previously before he joined Genoa from Dinamo Zagreb.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will be without Emmanuel Adebayor, who has been allowed to return to Togo on a personal matter, but they welcome back Kyle Walker into the squad and he might play some part in the first team for the first time in nine months, following his hip injury.  Among the players staying at home are Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, Christian Eriksen, Nabil Bentaleb, Kyle Naughton and Jan Vertonghen.
   BESIKTAS TEAM NEWS : -  Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba is missing injured and manager Slaven Bilic has hinted he will not play a full strength side, citing worries about injuries and tiredness with a crucial league programme ahead.

   The Youth Team stormed through the FA Youth Cup Third Round winning 4-1 at Dagenham And Redbridge FC tonight against Blackburn Rovers.  Ismail Azzaoui scored a hat-trick and Josh Onomah got the other Spurs goal.
   Tottenham are widely being linked with three moves in the January transfer window.  The triple swoop would be for Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez, Napoli defender Raul Albiol and Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
   The Daily Express claims that to make way for the incoming players, Franco Baldini is seeking buyers for Emmanuel Adebayor, Jan Vertonghen, Aaron Lennon and Mousa Dembele to add some cash to the £20 million pot Mauricio Pochettino has to spend in January.
   Palermo striker, Paulo Dybala, 21, is also a target, with Arsenal keen on the young forward too.
   A £10 million interest in Glasgow Celtic's Dutch central defender Virgil van Dijk has also been reported.

   Tottenham are being linked with a move for Ezequiel Ponce, the 17 year old Newell's Old Boys striker.
   Ahead of the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, Spurs are supposedly leading the chase for Bayer Leverkusen's South Korean striker Son Heung-Min, according to the Daily Star. Spurs had previously been linked with the £20 million rated player when he was with SV Hamburg before joining Leverkusen.
   Should Liverpool sack Brendan Rodgers, they are looking at brining former Spurs Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas back to the Premier League according to the Sunday Times.

   DeAndre Yedlin has been voted US Soccer's Best Young Male.
   The Most Valuable Player award for the current MLS season has gone to former Spur Robbie Keane, now playing for LA Galaxy.
   Brad Friedel is caught in a row over claims in Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard's autobiography, claiming the Spurs keeper was in a conspiracy to stop him gaining a  work permit to allow him to join Manchester United.  Brad says he had not stopped him, but the letter of support he was asked to sign was factually incorrect.
