   MEHSTG's spin story ... Arsenal are set to re-sign Thierry Henry on loan for three months from New York Red Bulls.  Their next move will be to sign former midfielder Liam Brady (well ... it is that time of year).

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Ledley King (ankle) and Aaron Lennon (hamstring) are both out of tomorrow's match at Swansea City tomorrow.  Jermain Defoe is hopeful of playing after training and Sebastien Bassong (ankle) and Roman Pavlyuchenko (back) are both doubtful.  Tom Huddlestone (ankle) is also out, but Michael Dawson has returned to training, although this game might be too soon as he will be missing match fitness.
   SWANSEA CITY TEAM NEWS : -  Angel Rangel took a knock on his ankle in their game against QPR on Tuesday, so will face a late fitness test, while Steven Caulker cannot play against Spurs while he is on loan to the Swans.  Garry Monk will come in to replace Caulker.  Ferry Bodde is out with a knee injury, while Alan Tate's broken leg has him out of contention for a place at the moment and Neil Taylor has a long term knee injury that will rule him out.

   Luka Modric has told the London Evening Standard that he is almost 100% sure of being at Tottenham until this summer, as he is unaware of rumours surrounding his departure from White Hart Lane in January.
   The Daily Mirror claim that Barcelona are going to offer Tottenham £25 million for Gareth Bale in the January transfer window.
   The Daily Mail reports that Spurs are watching Papiss Cisse of Freiburg and may have to pay £14 million for the 26 year old Senegal striker in the January transfer window.
   Young goalkeeper Jordan Archer has had his loan at Bishops Stortford extended to the end of the season.

   Michael Dawson returned to full training today after surgery on his Achilles injury in November.
   Striker Harry Kane and midfielder Ryan Mason are to join Millwall on loan from 1st January 2012 for the rest of the season.
   The Daily Mirror claim QPR want to take winger Andros Townsend on loan in January for the remainder of the season.
   Former Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda has extended his contract with Doncaster Rovers until the end of the season.

   The Daily Mail claim that Tottenham will make a move for Christopher Samba of Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window.
   Soccernet's website says that Roman Pavlyuchenko may be ready to accept a move to Anzhi Makhachkala after being frustrated about not getting a regular start at Tottenham.

   CRIME WATCH ... Luis Suarez has pleaded guilty to making an obscene gesture to the Fulham crowd in a  recent game there and will be banned for one match and fined £20,000 and warned about his future conduct by the FA ... 


   MEHSTG's no-spin story ... Gillingham's Chris Whelpdale is recovering after a tackle split his scrotum and he had to have it stitched back together.

   Tottenham beat Norwich City 2-0 at Carrow Road this evening.  For a match report click here.
   The Metro claims that Spurs are keen to get Luka Modric to sign a new deal thought to be worth £100,000 a week to fend off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
   Over at the Daily Mirror, they think that Steven Pienaar and Niko Kranjcar are looking to be moved on to raise some money for new purchases.  The paper believes the sale of the two midfielders will realise £8 million.
   Former Spurs defender Chris Gunter of Nottingham Forest is a wanted man with Fulham, Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers all watching him, according tot he Mirror.

   It was announced today that Spurs striker of the 1950s George Robb died yesterday aged 85.  An amateur player, George taught while playing for Spurs and was a fine player, winning one England cap.   MEHSTG extends our sympathies to his family and friends at this sad time.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Rafael van der Vaart has a good chance of playing at Norwich City on Tuesday, but Jermain Defoe and Ledley King are both definitely out according to Harry Redknapp, while Younes Kaboul is touch and go as to whether he plays or not.  Aaron Lennon (hamstring), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Michael Dawson (Achilles) are all ruled out for the trip to Carrow Road.
   Manchester United are shaping up for a £30 million bid for Luka Modric according to the Daily Express.
   The paper also reports that Everton are looking to take their former midfielder midfielder Steven Pienaar on loan in January.

   Rafael van der Vaart looks set to be fit for the game at Norwich City on Tuesday after a scan revealed that his hamstring was not torn in the game against Chelsea on Thursday.

   Spurs are believed to be talking to Giovani dos Santos' agent about a move away from White Hart Lane in the January transfer window, the Daily Mail claims.
   Emmanuel Adebayor has told the Sun that he does not know if the move to Tottenham will be made permanent, but he will wait until the end of the season to discuss matters.

   Rafael van der Vaart suffered a hamstring problem in yesterday's game against Chelsea and will be out until the New Year.
   Spurs have been criticised by the Football Supporters Federation and the Human Rights lobbyists for the use of head cameras by stewards at yesterday's game.

   Andros Townsend has signed a new contract at Spurs, committing himself to the club until 2016.
   The Youth Team will play away at Cardiff City in the Fourth Round of the FA Youth Cup with the game scheduled for Wednesday 11th January 2012.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Aaron Lennon will be side-lined for a coupe of weeks with a slight hamstring tear and Spurs have major doubts about Gareth Bale (ankle), Emmanuel Adebayor (foot) and Ledley King (knee).  Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Jermain Defoe (hamstring) are all out of contention for the match against Chelsea.  Younes Kaboul returns after suspension.
   CHELSEA TEAM NEWS : -  John Terry is set to play despite worries about an ankle injury picked up in training, while the rest of the squad are all available.

   Tottenham are being linked with a move for Shrewsbury Town's 19 year old defender Connor Goldson, who can play central or on the right, according to the Sun.
   The Spurs Youth team beat Stevenage 2-1 in the FA Youth Cup Third Round at Broadhall Way tonight as goals from Shaquille Coulthirst and a last minute effort from Souleymane Coulibaly saw Spurs through.

   Michael Dawson may be back for Spurs in January after recovering well from surgery on his Achilles injury, according to TalkSport's website.
   The Metro claim that Bolton Wanderers will sell Gary Cahill in the summer to fund new signings and Spurs and Arsenal are believed to be top of the list to sign the England central defender.

   Spurs are being linked with a deal with Qatar Airways for a £150 million sponsorship deal for the naming rights of the new stadium and shirt sponsorship deal according to the Sunday Telegraph.

   Spurs Under-18s drew 1-1 with Watford at Spurs Lodge this morning in the FA Academy Premier League, with Kenneth McEvoy the Tottenham scorer.
   Former Spurs loan midfielder Stephane Dalmat is to be given a free transfer by Rennes in the transfer window and he is interesting Doncaster Rovers.

   MEHSTG's spin story ... Peter Cech sustained an ankle injury today and following the protective wear has dons for his previous injuries, he will now be wearing a burka on the pitch when he faces Spurs on Thursday.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Ledley King (knee) is a big doubt, being unlikely to play, with Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) still sidelined.  Younes Kaboul will serve a one match suspension, leaving him as the only fit player missing, with the rest of the squad are available at the moment.
   SUNDERLAND TEAM NEWS : -  New manager Martin O'Neill may have Nicolas Bendtner and Craig Gardner back after injury, with Lee Cattermole available again after suspension.  Craig Gordon's knee injury rules him out and fellow goalkeeper Simon Mingolet has facial injuries that him him unavailable for selection.  Former Spurs loanee Frazier Campbell will be sidelined with a knee injury.

   UEFA have confirmed that they will take no action against Harry Redknapp for an alleged gesture to the home fans in last night's game at Shamrock Rovers, as it was not in the referee nor the observer's reports on the match.
   A Swedish newspaper is claiming that Spurs have beaten Manchester United to the
7.5 million signing of AZ Alkmaar's wide midfielder Rasmus Elm.

   Tottenham beat Shamrock Rovers 4-0 at the Tallaght Stadium tonight in the Europa League.  For a match report click here.
   It was revealed that Harry Redknapp may have made a clenched fist gesture to the Shamrock Rovers fans after being abused all night at the Europa League game.
   Harry Redknapp said that Spurs would be looking for a 'special' player in the January transfer window but that they were few and far between and that Carlos Tevez was one of those players, but it was unlikely Spurs would be signing him.
   The agent of Vedran Corluka has said that he intends to sit down with Spurs to talk about his client's future, with AS Roma interested and the agent being interested in getting the Croatian international the move to allow him to play regular football.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Ledley King (knee) and Roman Pavlyuchenko (back) miss out on the trip to Ireland for the Europa League match against Shamrock Rovers, but Niko Kranjcar is fit after a long time out with a thigh muscle injury.  Also missing are Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and a number of regulars being given a break before resuming Premier League action at the weekend.
   The Sun claim that Spurs will launch a £20 million offer for Manchester City's out of favour striker Carlos Tevez.
   In the Daily Mirror, they report that Juventus may be keen to facilitate striker Amauri's move to White Hart Lane.
   Sandro is the subject of speculation on the TalkSport website, where they quote his agent as saying you could not rule out a move to Serie A, as the player would be interested in playing in any of the top leagues and his absence form the side has made this a link to a move to Italy.

   The Tottenham Hotspur plc AGM was held today and the shareholders voted to take the club private.
   Daniel Levy told the AGM that Harry Redknapp is not interested in the England job at this moment in time, with 18 months to run on his Spurs deal.
   A Spurs XI played at QPR's training ground and beat the home XI 6-3, with Ryan Mason scoring a hat-trick and the other goals coming from Simon Dawkins, Cristian Ceballos and Kudos Oyenuga.
   Scott Parker has been named as Footballer of the Year and Kyle Walker as the Young Player of the Year in the BBC London Sport awards.
   The Daily Express claim that Spurs may make an audacious loan move for Real Madrid and Brazil midfielder Kaka in the January transfer window.
   The same paper reckons QPR might be in the market to take Heurelho Gomes in the transfer window, as their goalkeeping resources are very thin.
   Tottenham have been linked with an £18 million move for Lille's Senegalese striker Moussa Sow, according to the TalkSport website and a swap deal involving Roman Pavlyuchenko could be on the cards.
   Former Spurs goalkeeper Ian Walker has mutually departed from Bishops Stortford after serving as their manager for nine months.

   Heurelho Gomes has told the People newspaper that he must get away from Spurs to get games, as he hopes to keep his place in the Brazil squad.

   MEHSTG's spin story ... News that Chelsea players are under orders from their manager Andre Villas Boas to involve him in their celebrations is believed to be behind their poor form, as much training time is spent in elaborate celebration routines with the boss rather than concentrating on their defending (I do not know this for a fact as I am not at their training ground in Cobham.  In fact, I don't even know where Cobham is).

   Spurs are linked with a move, along with Arsenal, for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, who is demanding £50,000 a week to stay at Loftus Road it says in the Daily Mirror.
   The Metro claims that Andros Townsend threw a wobbly after being asked to leave a training match last week, when he got into a row with a team-mate.
   Manchester United will be told that Luka Modric is not for sale if they start sniffing around him in January, the Daily Express reports.
   TalkSport claim that if Nicolas Anelka does not make a move to China, then Harry Redknapp might make a move for the Chelsea striker.
   Sky Sports website claim that Steven Pienaar is being linked with a move back to Everton.
   Marseille striker Loic Remy's agent has had a pop at Roman Pavlyuchenko and Tottenham over the proposed swap deal involving the two players by saying that you wouldn't swap a Ferrari for a Citroen 2CV and that after Euro 2012, the forward could have 15-20 teams chasing him and so he would advise him not to move to White Hart Lane.
   Sky also link Giovani dos Santos with a January move to Sevilla, with the Spanish club believed to be ready to renew their interest in the Mexican striker in the transfer window.
   Tottenham's Under-18s beat Cardiff City 2-0 at Spurs Lodge in the FA Academy Premier League this afternoon, with the goals coming from Victor Zapata-Caceido and Shaquille Coulthirst.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  There are doubts over Ledley King (knee), Jermain Defoe (hamstring) and Gareth Bale (foot), but Niko Kranjcar is back in training but not be match fit yet.  Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Michael Dawson (Achilles) remain side-lined, along with Giovani dos Santos (back) and Danny Rose (ankle).
   STOKE CITY TEAM NEWS : -
Mamady Sidibe (knee) is out, while keeper Thomas Sorensen will be ready to play again after suffering concussion.  Defender Andy Wilkinson (back) faces a late fitness test , while both Rory Delap and Jermaine Pennant are fit to play on Sunday.
   Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll have signed new deals with the club keeping them at White Hart Lane until 2016.
   The Metro claim that Tottenham are in talks with Ajax over the transfer of central defender and left back Jan Vertonghen while Arsenal's interest fails to produce a hard offer for the Belgian international.
   A different centre half is in the frame in the Daily Star, with Chelsea's out of favour Brazilian Alex being mentioned as a target for Spurs and Arsenal.

   Jermaine Jenas has undergone surgery for damage to his Achilles tendon picked up on his first start for Aston Villa last weekend and will be out for the rest of the season.
   The Metro claims that Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent is hoping to involve Newcastle United and QPR after it was revealed that a move to Lokomotiv Moscow was not a done deal.
   The Daily Star reports that Fulham's midfielder Bryan Ruiz has said that when he left FC Twente, he really wanted to join Spurs.
   The Under-19 side drew 1-1 with Internazionale in the Stadio de Bresso in Milan to go through to the next stage of the competition as group winners, thanks to Alex Pritchard's goal.  Spurs will meet Liverpool in the next stage in the New Year.

   Tottenham's Third Round FA Cup tie at home to Cheltenham Town will be played on Saturday 7th January 2012 with a 15:00 kick off.
   Both Gareth Bale and Luka Modric have been selected as nominees for the UEFA.com Team of the Year.  You can vote for them by clicking here.
   AS Roma and Real Madrid are both interested in buying Kyle Walker from Spurs according to the TalkSport website.
   The Daily Mirror report that Tottenham are ready to trade Roman Pavlyuchenko plus cash for the 24 year old Marseille striker Loic Remy.
   Former Spurs defender Steve Walford has joined Martin O'Neill's backroom team at Sunderland as a coach.

   Spurs are to make a January move for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill the Daily Mail claims, possibly with Sebastien Bassong going the other way. 
   The article also claims that Locomotiv Moscow are ready to bid £8 million for Roman Pavlyuchenko and Tottenham want to replace him with Dider Drogba, but he seems to want to stay at Chelsea.
   The Mail also say Spurs are monitoring the form of 21 year old Cruzeiro defender Claudinho, who is being watched by Fiorentina and Udinese and is rated at £6.9 million.

   Tottenham have been drawn at home to Cheltenham Town in the Third Round of the FA Cup, with the tie to be played on the weekend of 7th/8th January 2012.
   The Sunday Mirror claim that Chelsea are willing to offer Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba or Nicolas Anelka to Tottenham in an attempt to get the club to part with Luka Modric
   The Metro claims Spurs are looking to freshen up their goalkeeping ranks in the summer, with a number of young keepers in their view, including 23 year old Tim Krul of Newcastle United and a move for the Magpies goalie could come in January.

   Tottenham beat Bolton Wanderers 3-0 at White Hart Lane today.  For a match report, click here.
   The Sun report that Harry Redknapp says captain Ledley King deserves a new deal at Tottenham.
   In the same paper the Spurs boss stated that if he was available he would be interested in bringing Chelsea's Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba to White Hart Lane, but that he has not made any enquiries about the forward so far.
   The paper also reckons Roman Pavlyuchenko will seek a move to another London club or a return to Russia in January.
   Over at the Daily Mirror, they record a comment about Redknapp's interest in Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill, which could lead to a new bid in the next transfer window.
   Tottenham's Under-18s drew their FA Premier Academy League match with Reading at Spurs Lodge 2-2 this morning.  Tottenham's goals came from Ronnie Hawkins and Ruben Lameiras.

   Harry Redknapp has won the Barclay's Manager of the Month award, with Scott Parker being named as the Player of the Month for November.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Rafa van der Vaart will be fit to play against Bolton Wanderers tomorrow after overcoming a hamstring injury, but Sandro has a groin strain and might miss out.  Definitely missing are Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Niko Kranjcar (thigh) and Michael Dawson (Achilles).
   BOLTON WANDERERS TEAM NEWS : -  The Trotters will be without Sam Ricketts (calf), Lee Chung-Yong (broken leg), Tyrone Mears (broken leg), Ricardo Gardner (thigh), Marcos Alonso (ankle), Joe Riley (hamstring), Sean Davis (knee) and Stuart Holden (knee).  In addition, defender David Wheater will be suspended for this match and Nigel Reo-Coker is a doubt with a hamstring pull.  Better news for Wanderers is that Dedryk Boyata and David Ngog return from injury.
   Spurs have had three games chosen for live TV coverage in February and this has necessitated changes to the scheduled kick of times.

Newcastle United (home) will still take place on Saturday 11th February, but will now kick off at 17:30 p.m. (ESPN)
Arsenal (away) has been moved from Saturday 24th February and will now take place on Sunday 26th February with a 13:30 p.m. kick off (Sky Sports)
   The Daily Mail reports that AS Roma are interested in buying Vedran Corluka in the January transfer window, with the Mirror claiming the Italian club are willing to offer £5 million.
   The Sun carry a piece stating that Tottenham, QPR and Fulham are all interested in Marseille striker Andre Pierre Gignac who will be available for a loan move in January after falling out of favour at the Ligue 1 club.
   Sandro has been nominated with 19 other Brazilians for the 'Samba de Ouro' trophy for the best Brazilian player in Europe.

   Gareth Bale is one of 55 players named in the running for the FIFPro World Footballer of the Year.
   TalkSport's website claims Spurs are interested in signing 27 year old Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder Joao Pereira in January, but Barcelona are also interested in the player.
   Tottenham were the second biggest spenders on agent fees for the period between October 2010 and September 2011 with £7.57 million, behind the £9.66 million spent by Manchester City.  Blackpool spent the least with just £45,000 going to agents.
