   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Robbie Keane and Jermaine Jenas might come into the Spurs side to replace Wilson Palacios and Jermain Defoe, while Giovani dos Santos might get a look-in after resuming training following his ankle injury in the previous round .  Niko Kranjcar is cup-tied and Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate, Luka Modric and Carlo Cudicini are all out injured.
   MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM NEWS : -  Gary Neville might be rested and Rafael could be his replacement, with Ben Foster coming in as goalkeeper and Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda leading the forward line, although Michael Owen might start in attack.

   Tottenham have been drawn at home to Peterborough United in the Third Round of the FA Cup this afternoon.  The games are to be played over the weekend of 2nd/3rd January 2010.
   The Sunday Express report that the interest of Barcelona has been drawn to Jermain Defoe after his five goals against Wigan Athletic last week.
   New Portsmouth manager Avram Grant wants Jamie Redknapp to give up the Sky Sports studio suit for a tracksuit and be his assistant at the club, a story in the News of the World claims.
   In the Sunday People, a move for West Ham United central defender Matthew Upson is mooted, with Alan Hutton going the other way in a deal that would add up to £10 million for the England defender.
   The Mail on Sunday however, put Spurs in the frame for an £8 million bid for another Iron ... goalkeeper Rob Green, which the paper wonders if the cash-stricken East End club would be able to resist.
   The People also claim that Manchester City are ready to push through a £12.5 million January deal for David Bentley to give Shaun Wright-Phillips come competition on the right wing at Eastlands.
   Roman Pavlyuchenko is desperate for a January move away from Spurs and the same newspaper reckons Liverpool would be interested in giving him his wish.
   Apparently, Nottingham Forest are planning a January raid on Spurs for £3 million rated Gareth Bale and their former defender Michael Dawson, but only on loan until the end of this season according to the Sunday Mirror.
   Spurs won an away friendly against AFC Wimbledon 3-0 today ... in BBC TV's cop show "New Tricks".  The episode of the serial about retired police officers investigating old, unsolved cases revolved around a Spurs fan who had been affected by his time in the army and was played by real life Tottenham supporter and actor Rene Zagger (formerly of "The Bill").  The initial meeting between the fan and one of the former officers took place in a pub after the fictitious friendly.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Ledley King and Luka Modric will not be risked in the match against Aston Villa as they seek to recover from their injuries.  Carlo Cudicini is still out following the injuries he sustained in his motorbike crash although Giovani dos Santos has now returned to full training after recovering from his ankle injury.
   The Daily Telegraph reports that Harry Redknapp and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez will vie with each other to persuade former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira to join their clubs in January from Internazionale.  Spurs are reported to be offering a pay-as-you-play deal and the player is rumoured to be interested, even though it will be a substantial drop in salary for him.  Sunderland, Olympique Lyonnais and Paris St. Germain also hope to sign the French international midfielder.
   While the Daily Mirror reckons the two sides will also be in a head to head to sign Atletico Madrid and former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan.
   Glasgow Rangers' Algerian defender Madjid Bougherra coming to White Hart Lane for £4 million is supposedly a done deal according to the Sun.

   The Daily Mirror carries a story claiming that Tottenham are interested in signing Manchester City defender Micah Richards in the January transfer window.
   Young centre-half Calum Butcher has gone on loan to Barnet for a month.
   Tottenham's proposed new stadium was officially announced as one of the four London venues in the capital's bid for inclusion in the 2018 World Cup bid.  No doubt, if White Hart Lane is chosen, then this may force the hand of London government and Transport for London to provide a tube link to a station nearer the ground than Seven Sisters.
   The THFC website reports that Steve Archibald and Alan Gilzean have been inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.

   The Daily Mirror claims that Wilson Palacios has recommended Honduran striker Melvin Valaderres to Harry Redknapp and the Spurs boss will make a decision on the 25 year old Real Espana forward after giving him a two week trial at the club.
   Fulham, Everton and Spurs might be potential suitors for Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, after he was told he could leave the club, the Mirror also reports.
   Tottenham Executive Director Paul Barber is to leave in February 2010 to take over as Chief Executive of Vancouver Whitecaps, who will join the MLS in 2011.
   The proposed new Spurs stadium has become the first London venue to be signed up for the England 2018 World Cup bid.

   Vedran Corluka's agent has dismissed rumours of an interest from Juventus by saying that his client has a five year contract at Tottenham to honour.
   Spurs are being linked with a move for 28 year old Serbian striker Milan Jovanovic of Standard Liege, along with Aston Villa, Manchester United and Everton, after Birmingham City dropped out of the running for the player, according to the Daily Mirror.
   The same paper reckon Nottingham Forest will try to pair Gareth Bale up with his Welsh and former Spurs fellow full back Chris Gunter with a £3 million January bid.

   The Daily Mirror reports that Spurs will not sell Roman Pavlyuchenko to AS Roma for a knock-down price, as they would want the majority of the £13.8 million paid for him last year.
   27 year old Leicester City goalkeeper Chris Weale is being touted as a possible replacement for injured reserve keeper Carlo Cudicini in the Sunday People.
   The same paper reckons that Everton will make a January move for defender Alan Hutton who has failed to settle in London the report claims.  Spurs are believed to want at least £4.5 million for the Scots full back.
   The Spurs Under-18 team lost 2-4 away to Aston Villa today, with Ryan Fredericks and Harry Kane scoring for Tottenham.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Carlo Cudicini (pelvis and broken wrist), Luka Modric (broken leg), Ledley King (hamstring), and Giovani dos Santos (ankle) are all missing from the Tottenham squad to face Wigan Athletic, but Aaron Lennon is back after his ankle injury and Sebastien Bassong might feature following his hamstring injury at Arsenal.  Goalkeeper Jimmy Walker is also in contention for a place on the bench after getting over his wrist injury.
   WIGAN ATHLETIC TEAM NEWS : -  The only injury in the Latics camp sees Maynor Figueroa miss out.  The team may be the same as the one which took the field against Fulham last time out.
   Despite not being fit at the moment, Harry Redknapp told the THFC website that Giovani dos Santos will resume full training next week.
   Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has been discharged from hospital and thinks that after eleven weeks, he will be able to start building up his fitness as it will take that long to get over his pelvis injury.
   Goalkeeper David Button has joined Shrewsbury Town until January to cover for the League Two club's goalkeeping situation.
   Defender Adam Smith has joined Torquay United until January 2010.

   The Sun somewhat confusingly reports that Tottenham could make a move for former Portsmouth winger Lomana LuaLua, who is now playing in Qatar.
   Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has said he wants a return to the Premier League after dropping out of contention for a place in the Real Madrid side and this has alerted Spurs, Liverpool and Fulham according to the Daily Star.
   The ever-willing to comment agent of Roman Pavlyuchenko reckons that the chairman of AS Roma is in London to explore the Russian striker's situation and the player is said to be willing to move to the Italian club, despite wanting a move back to Russia a couple of days ago.

   Roman Pavyluchenko played the first half for Russia in their 0-1 defeat in Slovenia to crash out of the World Cup qualifying play-off 2-2 on away goals.
   Captain Robbie Keane scored for the Republic of Ireland to take the World Cup play-off into extra time at 1-1, but they lost out to a goal in extra time to France.
   The Daily Mirror reckons that Manchester City will make an £8 million plus Martin Petrov bid for Spurs winger David Bentley in the January transfer window, as the Daily Star also reports.
   It is reported on  Football 365 that Spurs have signed Plymouth Argyle's talented defender Jamie Richards ahead of other Premier League clubs interested in the youth team centre-half.  It is believed that he prefers a return to his native London and that Tottenham may have to pay £500,000 in compensation plus additional payments on performance related criteria the Mirror reports.
   Portsmouth, Spurs, Seville and Villareal are watching the situation at Olympique Marseille, as left winger Hatem Ben Arfa is in conflict with the club and may be sold off.
   Out of favour striker Roman Pavyluchenko has told Russian media that he would welcome a return to his homeland, with Spartak Moscow his favourite club.

   Danny Rose played all of England U21s' 0-0 draw in Lithuania in the European Championship qualifying group match.
   Dean Parrett got one of the goals in England Under-19s 3-1 win over Turkey at Glanford Park tonight.  John Bostock played his first Under-19 game for his country and Steven Caulker and Ryan Mason also played in the game.
   The Sun claims that Tottenham are to launch a £6 million bid for Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster in January.
   The same paper reckons Spurs have taken 16 year old Valarenga striker Havard Nielsen on loan and the prolific Norwegian has scored for his country's Under-16s against Italy already this season.
   Goalkeeper Lee Butcher has returned from his one month loan spell at Leyton Orient.
   TeamTalk claim that there is no truth in the rumours that Tottenham might make a bid for Brazilian and Roma striker Julio Baptista, who previously was on loan at Arsenal.

   The News of the World is claiming that Tottenham are to renew their interest in Sevilla left winger Diego Capel.  The 21 year old is currently in contract talks, but they do not seem to be going well, as the La Liga club are reluctant to match his demands.
   The same publication runs a story hinting that Spurs would be willing to take Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Alan McGregor on loan until the end of the season and if he performs well enough during this time, Harry Redknapp would consider taking him in a permanent deal beyond the summer.  The indebted Scottish club would want £4 million for the goalie.
   Spurs, along with Everton, Sunderland and Chelsea, are interested in 22 year old Middlesbrough left winger Adam Johnson, but the Championship club have told him he will not be allowed to leave in January.  The £7 million rated winger has a contract that runs until next summer and Boro say he will have to see it out with the club hoping for a quick return to the Premier League.

   Jermaine Jenas started the England match in Doha against Brazil, which they lost 0-1, with Jermain Defoe (55), Tom Huddlestone (82) making his England debut and Peter Crouch (82) all coming off the bench.
   Scotland's Alan Hutton was up against Gareth Bale of Wales in Cardiff, as the home side ran out 3-0 winners in a friendly international.
   Croatia's 5-0 win over Liechtenstein saw Niko Kranjcar play 77 minutes of the friendly win.
   Robbie Keane captained the Republic of Ireland in their 0-1 home defeat in Dublin to France in the World Cup qualifying play-off first leg.
   Roman Pavluychenko played in Russia's 2-1 home win over Slovenia in their World Cup qualifying play-off first leg.
   Adel Taarabt of Morocco faced Benoit Assou-Ekotto of Cameroon in an African World Cup qualifier and Cameroon came out on top in a 2-0 win that sees them through to South Africa next year.
   Danny Rose scored the only goal for England Under-21s in their European Championship qualifier against Portugal at Wembley this afternoon.  He was substituted in the 76th minute and Kyle Naughton made an appearance as a substitute in the 76th minute.
   Spurs Head of Medical Services Wayne Diesel said that Carlo Cudicini's operation on his injuries sustained in the motorcycle crash on Thursday had gone well.  The surgery on his right wrist and pelvis will result in him being on crutches for about 12 weeks, although his left wrist appears to have not been as badly injured as first reported.
   Midfielder John Bostock scored twice on his debut on loan at Brentford in a 2-2 draw with Millwall.
   The Sun claims that Spurs are looking at making a £2 million bid in January for Glasgow Rangers' 17 year old defender Danny Wilson.
   The Academy's game at Coventry City was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

   Midfielder John Bostock has joined Brentford on a month's loan.
   Defender Sam Cox has joined Blue Square Conference team Histon on loan for a month.

  MEHSTG's spin story ... Frank Lampost suffered emotional trauma on the flight to Dubai with the England squad when he could not sit in the first class section and had to sit with some common people.  Lampost will be out of action for two to three weeks after being asked to be disinfected on leaving the plane.

   Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini's career is in the balance after he suffered serious injuries when his BMW superbike collided with a Ford Fiesta in a crash in Forest Road, Walthamstow this morning.  The Italian goalie appears to have suffered a injured his pelvis and broken wrists, which have been described as life-changing injuries.  The Daily Mirror have suggested that Cudicini could be in breach of his contract with the club for riding the bike without the knowledge of the Tottenham management.
   The Daily Mirror reckons Rafa Benitez might consider a January loan move for Roman Pavlyuchenko to boost Liverpool's front line.

   Harry Redknapp was supposedly taking a close look at Crystal Palace forward Victor Moses in yesterday's behind closed doors game at Spurs Lodge, according to the Daily Mirror.
   Russian striker Roman Pavylucheko has said that he will be seeking talks with the Spurs management about a move away from White Hart Lane in January, as he has slipped back to fourth choice forward at Tottenham.  The Daily Mail reckon Zenit St. Petersburg will offer £10 million plus add-ons to take Pav back to Russia.
   Spurs are also interested in Watford's England Under-21 goalkeeper Scott Loach the Daily Star claims.
   In the Daily Express, there is an article which states that Harry Redknapp will be required to sell players first, should they wish to sign new recruits and that despite the record profits earned by the club over the last accountancy period declared .

   Tottenham Hotspur announced record profits of £33.4 million from £3 million last year, with revenue at £113 million, player purchases at £119.3 million up to the end of June this year and a £56.5 million profit on player trading for the period to June 2009.
   A Spurs reserve side beat Crystal Palace 7-1 at Spurs Lodge today in a friendly match.  Jon Obika scored four goals, with Ryan Mason, John Bostock and Troy Archibald-Henville adding a goal apiece.
   In the results press release, chairman Daniel Levy revealed that the club are in talks with a new shirt sponsor to take over after the Mansion deal expires at the end of this campaign.
   Danny Rose has been recalled to Tottenham from his loan spell at Peterborough United following manager Darren Ferguson's sacking.
   Former Spurs midfielder and assistant coach Gus Poyet has been appointed as manager of Brighton and Hove Albion and his assistant manager will be former Tottenham full back Mauricio Taricco.

   According to a Spanish radio station, Spurs are keen to sign Valencia left sided midfielder Vincente and he is keen to leave the cash-strapped La Liga side.
   Academy goalkeeper Mirko Ranieri has joined Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season.

   Midfielders Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas have joined Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe in the England squad for the friendly match against Brazil in Qatar on 14th November.
   The Sunday Mirror claims that striker Roman Pavlyuchenko will join Valencia in January for £14 million.
   He could be replaced by Dutch forward Klass-Jan Huntelaar, who looks set to leave AC Milan for around £12 million, but Tottenham face competition from Liverpool, Manchester United and Birmingham City for the player according to the News of the World.
   Harry Redknapp wants to make sure Ledley King stays at the club for one more season according to the Sunday Mirror, as a clause in his contract allows Tottenham to extend it beyond June next year for another 12 months.

   The Tottenham Academy side beat MK Dons 6-0 at Spurs Lodge today with goals from Kudos Oyenuga 3, Harry Kane 2 and Thomas Carroll scoring the goals to seal victory.

   Tottenham's away game at Anfield against Liverpool will now be shown live on Sunday 10th January kick off at 4:00 p.m. instead of being played on Saturday 9th January.  The home match on Tuesday 26th January against Fulham will now be shown on TV and the kick off will still be 8:00 p.m.
   Jermain Defoe failed in his appeal at Chelmsford Crown Court to over-turn a driving ban imposed for two speeding offences.  The England striker was
fined £1,500, his licence was endorsed with 12 points and he received a six-month driving ban.
