Tottenham have been drawn at home to Peterborough United in
the Third Round of the FA Cup this afternoon. The
games are to be played over the weekend of 2nd/3rd January
2010.
The Sunday Express report that the interest of Barcelona has
been drawn to Jermain Defoe after his five goals
against Wigan Athletic last week.
New Portsmouth manager Avram Grant wants Jamie Redknapp
to give up the Sky Sports studio suit for a tracksuit and be
his assistant at the club, a story in the News of the World
claims.
In the Sunday People, a move for West Ham United central
defender Matthew Upson is mooted, with Alan Hutton
going the other way in a deal that would add up to £10
million for the England defender.
The Mail on Sunday however, put Spurs in the frame for an £8
million bid for another Iron ... goalkeeper Rob Green, which
the paper wonders if the cash-stricken East End club would
be able to resist.
The People also claim that Manchester City are ready to push
through a £12.5 million January deal for David Bentley
to give Shaun Wright-Phillips come competition on the right
wing at Eastlands.
Roman Pavlyuchenko is desperate for a January move
away from Spurs and the same newspaper reckons Liverpool
would be interested in giving him his wish.
Apparently, Nottingham Forest are planning a January raid on
Spurs for £3 million rated Gareth Bale and their
former defender Michael Dawson, but only on loan
until the end of this season according to the Sunday Mirror.
Spurs won an away friendly against AFC Wimbledon 3-0 today
... in BBC TV's cop show "New Tricks". The episode of
the serial about retired police officers investigating old,
unsolved cases revolved around a Spurs fan who had been
affected by his time in the army and was played by real life
Tottenham supporter and actor Rene Zagger (formerly of "The
Bill"). The initial meeting between the fan and one of
the former officers took place in a pub after the fictitious
friendly.

Luka Modric will not be risked in the match against
Aston Villa as they seek to recover from their injuries.
Carlo Cudicini is still out following the injuries he
sustained in his motorbike crash although Giovani dos
Santos has now returned to full training after
recovering from his ankle injury.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Harry Redknapp and
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez will vie with each other to
persuade former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira to
join their clubs in January from Internazionale. Spurs
are reported to be offering a pay-as-you-play deal and the
player is rumoured to be interested, even though it will be
a substantial drop in salary for him. Sunderland,
Olympique Lyonnais and Paris St. Germain also hope to sign
the French international midfielder.
While the Daily Mirror reckons the two sides will also be in
a head to head to sign Atletico Madrid and former Manchester
United striker Diego Forlan.
Glasgow Rangers' Algerian defender Madjid Bougherra
coming to White Hart Lane for £4 million is supposedly a
done deal according to the Sun.

The Daily Mirror carries a story claiming that Tottenham are
interested in signing Manchester City defender Micah
Richards in the January transfer window.
Young centre-half Calum Butcher has gone on loan to
Barnet for a month.
Tottenham's proposed new stadium was officially announced as
one of the four London venues in the capital's bid for
inclusion in the 2018 World Cup bid. No doubt, if
White Hart Lane is chosen, then this may force the hand of
London government and Transport for London to provide a tube
link to a station nearer the ground than Seven Sisters.

Vedran Corluka's agent has dismissed rumours of an
interest from Juventus by saying that his client has a five
year contract at Tottenham to honour.
Spurs are being linked with a move for 28 year old Serbian

Pavlyuchenko to AS Roma for a knock-down price, as they
would want the majority of the £13.8 million paid for him
last year.
27 year old Leicester City goalkeeper Chris Weale is

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Carlo Cudicini
(pelvis and broken wrist), Luka Modric (broken leg),
Ledley King (hamstring), and Giovani dos Santos
(ankle) are all missing from the Tottenham squad to face
Wigan Athletic, but Aaron Lennon is back after his
ankle injury and Sebastien Bassong might feature
following his hamstring injury at Arsenal. Goalkeeper
Jimmy Walker is also in contention for a place on the
bench after getting over his wrist injury.
WIGAN ATHLETIC TEAM NEWS : - The only injury in the
Latics camp sees Maynor Figueroa miss out. The team
may be the same as the one which took the field against
Fulham last time out.
Despite not being fit at the moment, Harry Redknapp
told the THFC website that Giovani dos Santos will
resume full training next week.
Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has been discharged from
hospital and thinks that after eleven weeks, he will be able
to start building up his fitness as it will take that long
to get over his pelvis injury.
Goalkeeper David Button has joined Shrewsbury Town
until January to cover for the League Two club's goalkeeping
situation.
Defender Adam Smith has joined Torquay United until
January 2010.

The Sun somewhat confusingly reports that Tottenham could
make a move for former Portsmouth winger Lomana LuaLua,
who is now playing in Qatar.
Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy
has said he wants a return to the Premier League after
dropping out of contention for a place in the Real Madrid
side and this has alerted Spurs, Liverpool and Fulham
according to the Daily Star.

Roman Pavyluchenko played the first half for Russia
in their 0-1 defeat in Slovenia to crash out of the World
Cup qualifying play-off 2-2 on away goals.
Captain Robbie Keane scored for the Republic of

The Daily Mirror reckons that Manchester City will make an
£8 million plus Martin Petrov bid for Spurs winger
David Bentley in the January transfer window, as the
Daily Star also reports.
It is reported on Football 365 that Spurs have signed
Plymouth Argyle's talented defender Jamie Richards
ahead of other Premier League clubs interested in the youth
team centre-half. It is believed that he prefers a

The News of the World is claiming that Tottenham are to
renew their interest in Sevilla left winger Diego Capel.
The 21 year old is currently in contract talks, but they do
not seem to be going well, as the La Liga club are reluctant
to match his demands.
The same publication runs a story hinting that Spurs would
be willing to take Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Alan
McGregor on loan until the end of the season and if he
performs well enough during this time, Harry Redknapp
would consider taking him in a permanent deal beyond the
summer. The indebted Scottish club would want £4
million for the goalie.
Spurs, along with Everton, Sunderland and Chelsea, are
interested in 22 year old Middlesbrough left winger Adam
Johnson, but the Championship club have told him he will
not be allowed to leave in January. The £7 million
rated winger has a contract that runs until next summer and
Boro say he will have to see it out with the club hoping for
a quick return to the Premier League.

Spurs Head of Medical Services Wayne Diesel said that
Carlo Cudicini's operation on his injuries sustained
in the motorcycle crash on Thursday had gone well. The
surgery on his right wrist and pelvis will result in him
being on crutches for about 12 weeks, although his left
wrist appears to have not been as badly injured as first
reported.
Midfielder John Bostock scored twice on his debut on
loan at Brentford in a 2-2 draw with Millwall.

Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini's career is in the balance
after he suffered serious injuries when his BMW superbike
collided with a Ford Fiesta in a crash in Forest Road,
Walthamstow this morning. The Italian goalie appears
to have suffered a injured his pelvis and broken wrists,
which have been described as life-changing injuries.
The Daily Mirror have suggested that Cudicini could be in
breach of his contract with the club for riding the bike
without the knowledge of the Tottenham management.
The Daily Mirror reckons Rafa Benitez might consider a

Harry Redknapp was supposedly taking a close look at Crystal

Tottenham Hotspur announced record profits of £33.4 million
from £3 million last year, with revenue at £113 million,
player purchases at £119.3 million up to the end of June
this year and a £56.5 million profit on player trading for
the period to June 2009.
A Spurs reserve side beat Crystal Palace 7-1 at Spurs Lodge
today in a friendly match. Jon Obika scored
