switched to White Hart Lane. Kick off will be at 7 p.m.
Goran
Bunjevcevic has said that he is "not particularly good" at
left back, but is playing there as the manager thinks he is the person
to do a job there. Talking to the official website, the
Yugoslavian international said he would be happier in the middle of
midfield, but is willing to fill in where needed for the benefit of
the team. Hmm. Hoddle playing people out of position
?? Shurely not !!

signing could be tempted to get some first team football and Spurs
could be keen to let him get some experience, much as they did with
Matthew Etherington last season, who also went on loan to Valley
Parade.
Tottenham
were represented at Crewe Alexandra's game against Luton Town on
Tuesday night and it is thought that they were among many scouts
watching a number of players on each side. The top star on show
was Dean Ashton, the young England striker, but he only had 19 minutes
of action at the end of the game, when he came on as a substitute.

Spurs
players and manager Glenn Hoddle were convinced that they had a good
call for a penalty at Anfield, when Robbie Keane's flick on was
handled by Jamie Carragher. However, they accepted that
sometimes they are given and sometimes not.

Glenn
Hoddle was disappointed Spurs returned from Anfield with nothing, but
said that Michael Owen can often be the difference between sides and
that proved the case yesterday. Hoddle felt that the way Dudek
was kept busy and the header we had cleared off the line was worth
something in the long run.
Gerrard
Houllier said that he was pleased that Jamie Redknapp was back fit and
playing. He evened quipped that Redknapp seems to be getting
stuck into tackles these days !!
A
Liverpool website is claiming that a source close to the club reckons
Emile Heskey will be released by the Premier League leaders at the end
of the season as they feel he does not score enough goals. The
frightening thing in this story was that they said Tottenham have made
it clear that they would be interested should he become
available. Just what we need ... another forward who doesn't
score many goals !!

David
Pleat told the club's company AGM yesterday that they intended to make
sure that there was a good group of quality players at the club
challenging for honours to prevent others leaving for free at the end
of their contract. The Director of Football said that the staff
at the club had worked hard to have assets in place to sell should
money be required, with the whole squad happy at the moment and the
only player who wanted to leave being Sergei Rebrov. The Board
had learned lessons in the past from such events and they were trying
to ensure that it did not happen again, although Pleat did state that
opponents would not come out in the open to approach players, but
would do so "around the back".
Steffen
Freund says he has been practicing his shooting in training in an

said that he will not play again until his is "really, really
100% fit". Well, we really, really hope that he will stay

really, really hope he does not believe his doctor in Germany, who
told him this was caused by something being wrong with his back !!
The

play in the Premiership again when Spurs face Chelsea on November 3rd.
News
is coming out of Belgium that Jonathan Blondel is unhappy about not

John

Brighton v Sheffield United game at the weekend, but also Bobby
Zamora. It is believed that there might be a move when the
transfer window opens in January for the former Bristol Rovers
striker.
The
same site claims that Celtic might rival Portsmouth for the signing of
Tim Sherwood come January. Although the First Division side have
been interested for some time, the Scottish champions might sneak up
on the blind side to snatch Sherwood, who would welcome a chance to
play in the top flight in Scotland.
There
is also a story on the site that says that Spurs are keeping tabs on
Derby County's Malcolm Christie too.
The

Glenn
Hoddle believes that the link-up play of Teddy Sheringham and the

his fitness, but said his passion is still there for the game.
Chairman
Daniel Levy has told the Spurs website that he was very pleased with
the atmosphere at the Tribute game and he was happy to see so many
families there enjoying the game (perhaps a sign of how the pricing
policy should be structured for future matches where the ground might
be half empty). Levy said that the DC United players and
officials were over-awed by the stadium and the crowd's reception and
he feels that the watching TV audience in the USA will have been
impressed too.

Spurs
are supposed to have instructed merchant bankers to raise £30 million
for the club, a story in the Daily Telegraph said today. This is
believed to be to increase the size of the stadium and to finance new
player purchases.
TOTTENHAM
TEAM NEWS : - Jamie Redknapp may well return in place of Milenko
Acimovic, while Chris Perry is also fit for the match at
Blackburn. Jonathan Blondel has a back problem, which might rule
him out of the squad. Rohan Ricketts, Ronnie Henry and Stephen
Kelly are all included in the squad to head to the North-West.
Steffen Freund retains his place in the squad.
BLACKBURN
ROVERS TEAM NEWS : - Andy Cole and Egil Ostenstad are both unlikely to
be fit for the game. With Dwight Yorke out with a hamstring
injury, they might be a bit light up front, but Flitcroft and Short
are both ready to return from injury.
The
official site has an interview with Anthony Gardner, who says he is in
training again after a thigh muscle tear and he hopes to be back in
the first team picture by the time we face Bolton Wanderers.
Stephen
Clemence is hoping that he will be getting a game in the next couple
of weeks in the reserves to build up his match fitness after being out
injured for so long. He is over his Achilles tendon problem, but
had some fluid building up around the injury, although that is not a
concern now.
Yet
another first team squad member coming back from injury is Alton
Thelwell, who has not set himself a timescale to be back in reserve
team action after a five month lay off with a groin injury.
Matthew
Etherington has been included in the England Under-21 squad to face
Macedonia at Reading's Madjeski Stadium on October 15th.
Goran
Bunjevcevic has been called up to the Yugoslavia squad for their Euro
2004 qualifiers against Italy and Finland.
Milenko
Acimovic is in the Slovenia squad to play France in the Euro 2004
qualifier.
Robbie
Keane has been called up for the Republic of Ireland squad to face a
Euro 2004 qualifier against Switzerland .
Lars
Hirschfeld is a member of the Canada squad for their friendly against
Scotland.
Midfielder
Ben Bowditch and defender Marcel McKie have been included in the
England under-19 squad for the friendly against Yugoslavia.
Mark
Hughes will be in the Republic of Ireland under-21 squad for matches
against Spain and Ukraine.
Reserve
team players Shwan Jalal and John Sutton have gone out on loan.
Goalkeeper Jalal has joined non-league Woking, while striker Sutton is
staying on at Carlisle United as mentioned a few days ago. Both
will spend one month at the respective clubs.
Former
Spurs midfielder Jason Dozzell has been released by Canvey Island.

Simon
Davies has told reporters that he feels that he can further improve
his performances, as he is not happy with his form so far this season.
There
could be some good news for Glenn Hoddle in the run up to the
Blackburn Rovers game on Sunday. Anthony Gardner is expected to
be fit, as well as fellow defender Chris Perry. Jamie Redknapp
should have recovered from his knock and Mauricio Taricco will have
overcome his cramp that forced him off in the Cardiff City match.
Former
Spurs winger Scott Houghton has been released by Stevenage Borough.

Mauricio
Taricco, who had to leave the field last night, was suffering form
nothing more serious than cramp and it was not a recurrence of his
groin injury.
Robbie
Keane has said he is not concerned about his lack of goals despite
missing a hat-trick of chances. He told the London Evening
Standard that he is still getting into scoring positions and felt that
once he gets off the mark, he will get more goals. Glenn Hoddle
felt that the Irishman will get more relaxed once his first goal for
Spurs goes in.
Sergei
Rebrov has denied the comments attributed to him complaining about his
situation at Tottenham. He said that he had spoken to a reporter
in Ukraine, but the result was a mis-translation of his words.
He re-iterated that he was happy to stay and justify his transfer fee
at the club and fight for a place.
The
latest transfer target for Tottenham appears to be Marcelo Salas, the
29 year old Chilean striker. Juventus have allowed him to talk
to other clubs for a move in January and Barcelona and Tottenham are
the clubs in the frame to take him off the Italian side's hands.
Carlisle
United have taken John Sutton on trial for a reserve friendly against
Newcastle United tonight. I presume that Sutton would be looking
at a loan period at Brunton Park to get some first team exposure,
rather than a permanent move, as David Pleat was only mentioning him
in the same sentence as " a new contract" in the programme
this week..
Planet
Football reveal that the match against DC United on October 17th might
be the first part of a return fixture, where Spurs might travel to
play at the RFK Stadium prior to the start of the 2003-04 season.

Tottenham
beat Cardiff City 1-0 in the Second round of the Worthington Cup
tonight. Teddy Sheringham scored the goal. For a match

Sergei
Rebrov might finally be on his way out of White Hart Lane and he has
said that he regrets the appointment of Glenn Hoddle as manager,
because he does not play the Ukrainian nor will he talk to him about
his situation in a civilised fashion.
The
match programme tonight revealed that Martin Peters was stepping down
as a director of the club. He said he will still be attending
matches, but wanted to spend more time with his family.
