   Still no hard Spurs news today other than Fernando Torres is waiting to see if his face scratch on Jan Vertonghen on Saturday was spotted by the referee or whether he will face further punishment for it.

   Tottenham drew 1-1 with Chelsea at White Hart Lane this afternoon.  For a match report, click here.
   The Daily Mirror claims that Spurs are set to bid £1 million for 16 year old Anderlecht midfielder Youri Tielemans.
   The Under-18 team beat Manchester City 4-1 at home in the Premier U18 Academy League this morning.  Penalties from Nathan Oduwa and Emmanuel Sonupe turned around a one goal deficit and then Harry Winks and Daniel Akindayini rounded off a good victory at Hotspur Way.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Spurs are without Aaron Lennon (foot) and Etienne Capoue (ankle), but both are progressing well from their injuries. Younes Kaboul has still got a muscle injury and will miss the game, although Danny Rose is hoping to be fit after injuring a toe against Tromso in the Europa League.
   Valencia are the latest club to show an interest in Chelsea's Juan Mata if he leaves in January, with Spurs, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester United also keeping an eye on the Spanish international's situation.

   Tottenham have been drawn at home to Hull City in the Fourth Round of the League Cup.  The tie will take place in the week starting 28th October 2013.
   Spurs, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have been alerted to the possibility that Andrea Pirlo may not be offered a new deal at Juventus at the end of the season, thus allowing the 34 year old midfielder to move on a free transfer according to the Daily Mail.
   Apparently, Gareth Bale flew back from Spain to have talks with Manchester United over a move from Spurs at the last minute in the deal to take him to Real Madrid.  The Gold Trafford club offered £100 million according to the Mirror and £120 million in the Sun.  Just imagine what we could have done with that extra £5 million !!.

   Tottenham beat Aston Villa 4-0 at Villa Park in the League Cup Third Round tonight.  For a match report click here.
   A Spurs XI beat Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0 at Hotspur Way today in a friendly with Nabil Bentaleb's goal separating the two sides.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS :- Jermain Defoe is a doubt with the groin strain he picked up in training, while Aaron Lennon (foot), Etienne Capoue (ankle), Nacer Chadli (hip), Younes Kaboul (hamstring) and Danny Rose (ankle) are all out of the reckoning for the game.  Vlad Chiriches may make his debut for the club.
   ASTON VILLA TEAM NEWS : -  Saturday's hip injury rules out Christian Benteke and joining him on the missing list for Villa are Gabriel Agbonlahor (ankle), Fabian Delph (ankle), Jores Okore (knee), Ciaran Clark (head), Charles N'Zogbia (calf), Ashley Westwood (muscle strain) and Antonio Luna (knock).

   Tottenham beat Cardiff City 1-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon.  For a match report, click here.
   The Sunday People claim that Spurs are favourites to sign 27 year old striker Ciprian Marica who was released by Schalke 04 in the summer and would be willing to join for a £60,000 a week salary and a three year deal.  The article did say that Tottenham would then have to get rid of Emmanuel Adebayor to fit the Romanian international in the squad.

   The Daily Mail claim that Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao is Andre Villas-Boas' number one transfer target in the  January window.
   Sky Sports website has Harry Redknapp saying he would love to take Emmanuel Adebayor on loan, but doubts if the player would be interested in dropping down a division, while the Daily Mirror have him lining up Harry Kane for a loan move to Loftus Road.
   Tottenham's Under-18s won 4-0 away to Stoke City this afternoon.  The Spurs goal-scorers were Emmanuel Sonupe 3 and Nathan Oduwa.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs have Vlad Chiriches available now he has a work permit and the two injured players from yesterday, Mousa Dembele and Younes Kaboul will travel with the squad, although Danny Rose is a big doubt after injuring his ankle.  Etienne Capoue (ankle) and Aaron Lennon (foot) are still sidelined and Emmanuel Adebayor is still not match fit.
   CARDIFF CITY TEAM NEWS : -  David Marshall should return in goal for the newly promoted Welsh side, with Craig Bellamy also returning to fitness for the match.  Andreas Cornelius is out with an injured ankle though.

   The Daily Express says that Spurs will rival Juventus and Napoli for Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata's signature in January.

   Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in taking Jon Obika on loan as they have an injury crisis, but the Spurs reserve striker is currently hampered by an ankle injury himself.

   Spurs may be willing to let striker Emmanuel Adebayor go on loan to Queens Park Rangers if the West London club pay the majority of his wages, but later in the day stories started to circulate that Harry Redknapp would wish to take young forward Harry Kane on loan instead.
   Tottenham's Under-21s travelled to Burton Albion FC to play Aston Villa Under-21s and they earned a 1-1 draw, with Harry Kane converting a penalty after being brought down in the box.

   The Sunday People claim that Spurs may make a £20 million move for AC Milan's 20 year old international striker Stephen El Sharaawy.
   Tottenham are also linked with an interest in Fernando Llorente of Juventus, who moved to Turin in the summer from Atletico Madrid on a free transfer, but has failed to settle with the Italian champions.
   Erik Lamela's 18 year old brother was car-jacked and kidnapped in Buenos Aires the day before the Norwich City match.  He was released when a £550 ransom was paid.

   Tottenham beat Norwich City 2-0 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.  For a match report, click here.
   TalkSport's website claims that AS Roma want to sue some of the money they received from Tottenham for Erik Lamela to come back to White Hart Lane for midfielders Lewis Holtby and Sandro in January.  Internazionale are also interested in Sandro, who would command a fee of around £12.5 million according to the article.
   The Under-18s beat Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at Hotspur Way this morning.  Will Miller and Harry Winks scored the Tottenham goals.

   NORWICH CITY TEAM NEWS : -  Elliot Bennett is out injured with a knee problem, but Ryan Bennett should return with stitches in his knee.  Striker Gary Hooper will be assessed after having a shin injury in training, hoping to make his debut after being at Tottenham as a youngster.

   The Daily Express claim that AS Monaco may turn to Hugo Lloris if they are unsuccessful in signing Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda.

   The FA are to take a hard line on the use of the term "Yid" inside football grounds and that will be against anyone using that word.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS :  Spurs have come through the international break relatively unscathed, with only Gylfi Sigurdsson reporting back with an injury - a dead leg, but even he could train.  Emmanuel Adebayor is currently not available for consideration and when he returns to training on Monday, he will be with the Development team until further notice.  Erik Lamela returned early on Thursday morning and was not able to train, but will be ready for Saturday's game with Norwich City, although Aaron Lennon (foot) and Etienne Capoue (ankle) are both still ruled out.
   Spurs and Arsenal are keen on Sochaux's 22 year old defender Sebastien Corchia, who can leave the French club in January for around £7 million.
   Another possible January move may be for 22 year old Norwegian midfielder Stefan Johansen, who plays for Stromgodset and could fetch £7 million.
   Tottenham and Manchester United will be back in for Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao in January.

   Erik Lamela was an unused substitute as Argentina won 5-2 away to Paraguay to qualify for the World Cup final sin Brazil next year.
   A Spurs XI beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at Hotspur Way today in a friendly match, where goals from Simon Dawkins 2 and Kenneth McEvoy won the match for Tottenham.

   Kyle Walker played the whole of England's 0-0 away draw in Ukraine with Jermain Defoe and Andros Townsend being unused substitutes in the World Cup qualifying match.
   Denmark beat Armenia 1-0 away in their World Cup qualifier, with Christian Eriksen putting in another 90 minutes.
   Hugo Lloris was in goal for France as captain, with his side going on to a 4-2 World Cup qualifying victory in Belarus.
   Romania lost 0-2 at home to Turkey in their World Cup group qualifier tonight, with Vlad Chiriches playing all the game.
   Gylfi Sigurdsson played all of Iceland's 2-1 home World Cup qualifier win against Albania tonight.

   Tom Carroll played all of England Under-21s 1-1 draw with Finland U21 in Tampere tonight.  Harry Kane came off the bench in the 58th minute to have a hand in the equaliser for England
   Kyle Walker issued an apology today for inhaling nitrous oxide - a legal high, which can have dangerous side-effects - in a Sheffield night-club with his friends in June this year.

   Paulinho was in the Brazil side that beat Australia 6-0 in Brasilia in a friendly match today.
   Reports today from the Danish press indicate that Christian Eriksen was contacted about a move to Borussia Dortmund and Paris St. Germain in the most recent transfer window, but has decided on moving to the Premier League.
   Spurs and Arsenal are being linked with a move for out of contract 27 year old Romanian striker Ciprian Marica, who also interests West Ham United.

   Kyle Walker played 90 minutes for England in their 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Moldova at Wembley tonight.  Jermain Defoe and Andros Townsend were unused substitutes.
   Jan Vertonghen and Nacer Chadli started for Belgium in a 2-0 win over Scotland at Hampden Park in their World Cup qualifying group match.  Mousa Dembele was used as an 87th minute substitute for Belgium.
   Denmark's 2-1 victory in Malta saw Christian Eriksen play the whole game for his country in the World Cup qualifying win, with the midfielder scoring the winning goal.
   Romania's home 3-0 win over Hungary in their World Cup qualifying game had captain Vlad Chiriches playing the entire 9-0 minutes.
   Gylfi Sigurdsson played all of Iceland's 4-4 World Cup qualifying away draw in Switzerland tonight.
   Hugo Lloris kept a clean sheet, but France could not beat Georgia in their World Cup qualifier that ended 0-0 in Tbilisi tonight.
   Spain's 2-0 away victory over Finland in Helsinki was achieved with Roberto Soldado stuck on the bench.
   Spurs announced that they will be offering fans subsidised coach travel to 14 of the club's Premier League matches this season in appreciation of the away support the team receive.

   CRIME WATCH ... Ian Holloway, the Crystal Palace boss, gets a two match touchline ban for comments made about the referee after the opening game of the season against Spurs ... Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is fined £8,000 for comments about the referee in his club's game at Chelsea ... former Spurs youth team defender Mark Arber is investigated by Arsenal, where he is now a coach, over claims he made on his Twitter feed for betting on the signing of Mesut Ozil ...


   MEHSTG's no-spin story ... Chris Coleman forgot his passport and arrived a day late for Wales' World Cup qualifying match in Skopje, Macedonia.

   Tom Carroll started England Under-21's 1-0 win over Moldova at Reading FC, playing all 90 minutes, while Harry Kane came on as a substitute in the 86th minute in the qualifying game for Euro 2015.
   Jordan Archer was in the Scotland Under-21 goal as they lost out 0-4 to Holland in their Euro 2015 qualifier.
   Tottenham Hotspur Ladies FC have a fun day at their new home ground Ware FC (Wodson Park, Ware) on Sunday 8th September starting at 11:00 and is followed by their home Premier League South match against Charlton Athletic, which kicks off at 14:00.  Ledley King will be making a special appearance and there are lots of activities to take part in and prizes to win.  Click here for more information.

   It appears that the Metro believe that Spurs were offered the opportunity to take striker Demba Ba on loan from Chelsea for the season for a fee of £5 million, but could not complete the paperwork in time to get the deal done.
   Another story comes form South American football expert and Spurs fan Tim Vickery, who recounts the story that Tottenham made a last ditch attempt to sign Corinthians and former AC Milan midfielder Alexandre Pato, but a fee could not be agreed at the last moment.
   Young forward Cristian Ceballos has gone on loan for the season to newly promoted FC Arouca in Portugal.
   Some of Tottenham's Premier League games have been moved because of Tottenham's involvement in the Europa League.
Cardiff City (away) has been moved to Sunday 22nd September with a 16:00 kick off
West Ham United (home)  Sunday 6th October with a 16:00 kick off
Hull City (home)  Sunday 27th October with a 16:00 kick off
Liverpool (home) has been moved to Sunday 15th December with a kick off to be confirmed when the next round of televised games is chosen.

   Tottenham's League Cup Third Round tie at Aston Villa will be played on Tuesday 24th September with the kick off at 19:45.
   Rounding up from yesterday's transfer deadline day, former Spurs midfielder Niko Kranjcar joined QPR on loan from Dynamo Kiev.

   So, we arrive at transfer deadline day and unusually, we expected a quiet day for Spurs, with a lot of business already done.
DONE DEALS
   Tom Carroll and Benoit Assou-Ekotto have both joined QPR on season long loans, but a move for Emmanuel Adebayor failed to be completed.
RUMOURS
   Spurs were said to have made a £15 million bid for Javier Hernadez, but Manchester United were reported to have said they want £20 million for the Mexican striker known as 'Chicarito'.  The club might enquire about a season long loan for the forward.
   The Daily Mirror claims that Harry Redknapp wants to take the known quantities of Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Emmanuel Adebayor to Queens Park Rangers.
   Sky Sports reckon Spurs are still trying to sign Zenit St. Petersburg striker Hulk.
   It is reported that Christian Eriksen turned down a move to Paris St. Germain to come to Tottenham.  Atletico Madrid and Everton were both keen on the Danish midfielder, who plumped for a move to White Hart Lane as his preference.
   Tom Ince's transfer fee has risen to £10 million according to the Sun, but they do go along with the line that he will be loaned back to Blackpool for the rest of the season if the signing does go through.
   Another midfield Tom, this time Tom Carroll, looked to be heading for QPR on loan for a season to get some regular games ... albeit in the Championship.
   Spurs and Arsenal were said to be vying for 17 year old PSV Eindhoven winger Zakaria Bakkali, who would cost around £9 million.
   Tottenham allegedly made a £7 million bid for Nicolas Spolli, the Argentinian Catania defender.
   Spurs allegedly offered Chelsea £15 million plus Emmanuel Adebayor for Fernando Torres tonight.
   They were also keen on taking Demba Ba on loan from Chelsea, but the West London club would not have that.
NEWS
   Etienne Capoue's injury was not as bad as first thought and he has been diagnosed as having a sprained ankle, which will keep him out for four weeks.
   Spurs Under-21s lost 1-2 at White Hart Lane to Norwich City, with the Tottenham goal scored by Lewis Holtby.
ELSEWHERE
   Former Spurs keeper Ben Alnwick has been released by Barnsley by mutual consent.

   Tottenham lost 0-1 to Arsenal at Highbury today.  For a match report, click here.
   Etienne Capoue's injury in today's match may have been a broken fibula.  Scans will be run on his lower leg tomorrow to ascertain the extent of the injury.
   QPR are to make a £5 million move for Jermain Defoe according to the Daily Mirror.
   The Daily Mail say that Spurs are making a £8 million move for Blackpool and England Undder-21 midfielder Tom Ince and will loan him back to the Championship club for the rest of the season.
   In the Daily Mirror, they claim that Spurs are keen to loan left back Fabio Coentrao from Real Madrid for the season, but later reports indicated that the Portuguese defender was to stay at the Bernabeu.
   Spurs are also being linked with a move for 27 year old Internazionale defender Alvaro Pereira, who Andre Villas-Boas worked with at FC Porto.  The player would cost around £9 million.
   Gareth Bale has finally signed for Real Madrid in a six year deal reported to be worth £85.3 million to Spurs and the player will earn £300,000 a week.
   Former Spurs Under-21 winger Jack Munns has signed for Charlton Athletic.
