Tottenham drew a friendly at Wolverhampton Wanderers today 1-1 with Steffen Iversen put Spurs ahead and the home side equalised later in the second half.
Both Colin Lee and George Graham have claimed that the deal for Robbie Keane had "gone off the boil".
Confusion reigns over the Oyvind Leonhardsen move to Tottenham, which may have been slowed down by conflicting stories over the fee involved. It is said that Houllier may be willing to sell for £2 million, despite turning down £2.2 million earlier in the summer. We await developments.

Les Ferdinand has been having round the clock treatment on a bruised bone in his foot, but he is confident that he will be fit for the West Ham United match next Saturday.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has put in a transfer request to Leeds United and reports have linked him with a move to Tottenham. However, as Athletico Madrid have had a £10 million bid turned down, it is unlikely that Spurs would be able to match the money needed to tempt him away from Elland Road ... not that Mr. Ridsdale would be likely to sell him to THFC anyway.
Peterborough's Matthew Etherington is set to go to Old Trafford on trial. The young winger has long been a target for Spurs.
Bryan Robson has had a dig at Tottenham when he signed Paul Ince for £1 million. He said when you look at players like Tim Sherwood, who Spurs bought for £4 million, Ince is a bargain. Blackburn Rovers did not want Sherwood to leave and Liverpool wanted shot of Ince - that is the difference.
Bernard Diomede's transfer from Auxerre to Newcastle United depends upon Moussa Saib being sold to the French club to replace him. A £1 million bid has been turned down by Tottenham.

A Spurs XI won at non-league Welling United tonight 3-2. They were 2-0 down, but goals from Thelwell, Piercy and McVeigh gave Tottenham the win.
GG has hinted that he will not be rushed into buying a forward to cover his ailing strike force. He said that he would only buy players who were right for Tottenham and this may allude to not making a bid for Robbie Keane ... or is he playing psychological games ...??
A £3 million deal for Liverpool's Oyvind Leonhardsen is said to be close to completion and he could be a Spurs player by the weekend.
Les Ferdinand could miss the first two games of the new season, if not more. The knock on his ankle picked up in the friendly against Millwall has not cleared up and he will have a scan this week to assess the damage.

A report today had alleged that Tottenham's UEFA Cup home ties will only be shown on Sky Digital.
George Graham has said that a realistic target for Spurs this season is a top six finish. He also stated that he has been aware for some time that a striker is needed, but finding one for the right money is the hard part.
Valerenga striker John Carew, who had been touted as a possible signing by Spurs, has joined Rosenborg of Norway for £2.07 million.

David Pleat has been rumoured to be in Denmark, watching a young Danish striker Iddi Alkhag, who is 20 years old. The forward is only in his first full season and although very quick and a prospect for the future, may not be a serious target for Tottenham at the moment.
The Spanish press are linking Tottenham to a move for Youri Djorkaeff along with Aston Villa and Manchester United. It said that we were the closest to sign him at this time.
The Times have linked us with a £6 million move for Robbie Keane after Saturday's friendly against his club, Wolverhampton Wanderers. They also mention Argenitina's Claudio Cannigia.
It has been said that Tottenham hold the key for Robbie Keane's transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Not only are they willing to meet the asking price of £6 million, which only Middlesbrough have met (but Keane didn't want to go there), but apparently, the ace that Spurs are holding is Ruel Fox, who, for some reason, is coveted by Wolves.
Bradford City have put striker Robbie Blake on the transfer list. Having failed to accept three new sets of terms offered to him, the newly promoted club will be looking for around £4 million for the young forward. One unnamed club have already made a substantial bid.

A Tottenham XI drew 1-1 at St. Albans City tonight with the goal coming from Paul McVeigh.
Frank Lampard Junior has signed a new contract with West Ham United, thus quashing rumours of a move away from the Boleyn Ground.
Young Spurs goalkeeper, Alan Marriott, has gone on loan to Lincoln City with a view to a permanent transfer. He played in a friendly against Leicester City and was on the losing side, letting in seven goals in the process. His side got two back - one from ex-Spur Peter Gain.
Media Monitor has revealed that like a lot of clubs Tottenham have made an enquiry about Wolverhampton Wanderers' Robbie Keane, but no bid has been made yet.

Tottenham are set to swoop for Robbie Keane of Wolverhampton Wanderers for £6 million as Aston Villa are not willing to up their £5.5 million bid. The urgency has been prompted by Chris Armstrong having a hernia operation which will keep him out of the side for 6 weeks.
Newspaper reports are linking Tottenham as one of the clubs interested in Wimbledon's Michael Hughes, who looks set to leave the club following Joe Kinnear's exit. A fee of £5 million has been mooted.
Other fanciful transfer talk has linked Darren Anderton as a £6 million target for Nottingham Forest ! It is unlikely that this move will come off, as Dazza may not want to drop a division and if Tottenham cannot meet his pay demands, will Forest ??

Tottenham drew 2-2 with Heart of Midlothian today. They were 2-0 up at half-time through an own goal and a Steffen Iversen header, before the home side came back in the second half.
Allan Nielsen was set to play today, but in the pre-match warm-up felt his groin pulling and was rested as a precaution against further injury. Mark Gower played in his place.
Former transfer target Emile Heskey has signed a one year extension to his contract at Leicester City, but with the condition that if a £7 million bid comes in for him he can leave.

Spurs target Michael Bridges has made his preferred move to Leeds United for £5 million, subject to a medical.
Tottenham have signed up two Italian youngsters - midfielder Maurizio Consorti and winger Luca di Giuliautonio - to join the Tottenham Academy and play in the Under-17 side this season. The players are from the Rome area.
Tottenham's away game at Chelsea has been moved from Wednesday 25 August to Wednesday 12 January 2000.

Najuan Grayeb's solicitor is threatening to sue Tottenham for breach of contract following the failure to complete his transfer from Hapoel Haifa. He claims that two seasons without missing a game are evidence that the player was fit and that he lost bargaining power after turning down Anderlecht and Aston Villa to sign for Spurs. Tottenham claim that what was signed was only a confirmation of the player's salary should he pass a medical. £650,000 in damages is sought.
Paul McVeigh hopes that the transfer of Rory Allen to Portsmouth might help him in the selection race for a forward place at White Hart Lane. He said it is going to be a big season for him and he that being on the pre-season tour was a big boost for him.
Chris Armstrong says he should be fit to play in a couple of weeks time and has remained in England while the side were on tour in Sweden to aid his recuperation.
Ricky Hill has been talking to Sky about his plans for Tottenham's Under-19's, of whom he is the new coach. He wants to produce creative intelligent players who will be able to progress as professionals. 16 out of 18 of his Under-19 squad at Sheffield Wednesday have been awarded pro contracts and he hopes that he has brought them on to be prepared for the life of a professional footballer. Hill hopes to become a manager as soon as possible and said that Tottenham has a friendly atmosphere, but everyone is focused on the job in hand. His Sheffield Wednesday side was beaten in the title final by West Ham United last season and the management at Spurs have great hopes for the future for the young players at the club.

TeamTalk has claimed that Fulham are still in the hunt for Les Ferdinand to link up with on-loan Stan Collymore. However, they contradict this by saying that Paul Bracewell is unlikely to move for the former England forward as he is happy with his existing strike force.
Spurs spending for the close season may be over, according to some reports. Graham's search for a striker may be put on hold until he is able to get the players he wants, because Iversen and Dominguez have been scoring well in pre-season friendlies. GG may be ready to blood the younger players in the squad to find out if they can make the move to the first team.
Michael Bridges is frustrated that he looks uncertain to play first team football in the coming season. He said he didn't feel that a move to Tottenham was right for him and that it wasn't about money as Spurs offered decent terms.
Aston Villa are hoping to complete the signing of Robbie Keane, a long-time Tottenham target, if they can agree a price with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tottenham completed their Swedish tour with a 3-0 win over Third Division GAIS of Stockholm. The goals all came from the boot of Steffen Iversen and Les Ferdinand made his first appearance of the tour, when coming on as a half-time substitute.
Clive Wilson is training and playing friendlies with Cambridge United, which he hopes will lead to a contract.
Simon Brown has been offered a one month contract at Colchester United, which could be extended if he is successful in his time there.
Moussa Saib's agent has pleaded with Tottenham to cut his asking price to allow him to complete his move to Auxerre. The players representative said Tottenham must have a lot of money to waste if they would not let Saib leave and stay on the high wages he is currently earning.
Tottenham have been watching Norwich City's Craig Bellamy for some time, but it now appears that he may miss the majority of next season after injuring his knee in a pre-season friendly at Southend United. Scans show that he has cruciate ligament damage.
Unsubstantiated rumours are spreading on the Internet that Chris Armstrong and some money may be going to Sunderland with Michael Bridges making the move in the opposite direction. This appears to derive from the fact that Leeds United will not up their bid of £4 million for the young striker. However, there still seems to be hurdles to overcome in this move if the original stumbling blocks were to be believed. The wages and the fact that Tottenham is too far South means that Spurs will have to flash the cash to attract the forward and move Tottenham some 150 miles nearer the North-East.
Even more speculation has arisen as Clubcall are reported to have Arsene Wenger saying that Leicester City's young forward Emile Heskey has already signed for another club. This has sparked conjecture that it could be Tottenham. Another club, if not Arsenal, could always be Leicester though ! However, all sorts of other rumours are springing up around this one to add weight to it's validity. We can only wait and see. Especially with GG coming back to England with the rest of the squad now the tour of Sweden is over.
Najuan Garayeb, the player who was not signed by Spurs, has been signed by Aston Villa - just as was the plan, before he talked to Tottenham's representatives at Heathrow. So, it all ended happily ever after.

Allan Nielsen is pleased that he has made his peace with George Graham and will stay at Spurs. He admitted it would have been a wrench to leave after three years and looked forward to the exciting season ahead.
Ramon Vega has hinted it may be a couple of weeks before he is fit to play matches again. He has been training, but feels the ferocity of a full match may be too much for his foot which underwent surgery in the summer.
David Pleat has trotted out the denials in relation to speculation about Le Saux, Christian, Stephen Hughes and Eidur Gudjonsson.

Tottenham are to challenge Arsenal in a bid for Brazilian forward, Christian. The Highbury side have had a £6 million bid turned down and it is thought that £8 million may get the player. Other rumours say he has already signed for Paris St. Germain.
The link with Eidar Gudjonsson of Bolton Wanderers has reappeared and GG is rumoured to bid £3 million for the player who was a 17 year-old partner to Ronaldo at PSV Eindhoven.
Another Sunday press story has Tottenham making an enquiry about Chelsea's Graeme Le Saux. Apparently, Vialli told GG he would not sell him for £10 million, which is overdoing it a bit, I think.

Peter Sudaby has been appointed as Head of Tottenham's Football Academy replacing Colin Murphy, who has taken up a post in Burma.
The Najuan Grayeb deal is closed and he will not be coming to Tottenham. It appears that the problem revealed by the medical means he will now sign for Aston Villa or Malaga of Spain.
Stephen Hughes has been linked with a move to West Ham United.
It is rumoured that Frank Lampard Junior will sign a new contract with West Ham United, scuppering Tottenham's hopes of securing the young midfielder.
The denied transfer target, Youri Djorkaeff is apparently in talks with Manchester United.
Darren Anderton has been given four weeks by George Graham to decide if he is to sign a new four year deal with Tottenham. The manager wants to resolve the situation, which has now been dragging on for some time.
Former Spurs manager Terry Venables has been given a Saturday afternoon football phone-in show on Virgin Radio starting on Saturday 7 August.
While passing the new Spurs Megastore today, in the window they displayed the new white home kit, the yellow and navy second kit and then I spotted a third strip, which was predominantly navy with white and burnt orange piping around the neck (and maybe cuffs). No previous mention in club merchandising material had mentioned this strip and it will be interesting to see when it will be used or released for sale. I have learned that this is the training top.
Among the players who may be playing against Arsenal for the Under-17 side this weekend are Italian youngsters Maurizio Consorti and Luca Di Giuliantonio. Consorti is a midfielder and Di Giuliantonio a winger. Both are from Rome and signed Trainee forms with Spurs earlier this summer after being spotted playing in a schoolboy tournament.

Tottenham drew 1-1 with Elfsborg of Sweden this evening. Allan Nielsen scored Tottenham's goal from a Darren Anderton cross in the first minute, but then the England winger had a penalty saved three minutes later. The home side equalised with a penalty that Luke Young conceded and also managed to miss a penalty Justin Edinburgh gave away before half-time. Chris Perry played well for the full 90 minutes on his debut.
GG has agreed to a £1 million offer from Portsmouth for Rory Allen. The player completed his move after discussing terms with manager Alan Ball.
Tottenham have denied any interest in Inter Milan's Youri Djorkaeff.
Arsenal's Stephen Hughes has been the subject of an unsuccessful £4 million bid from Fulham. It was the player who refused the deal as he wants to stay in the Premier League. Spurs, Aston Villa and West Ham United are said to be watching the situation.
Aston Villa are renewing interest in Najuan Grayeb now that it seems as though the medical problems discovered by Tottenham seem to have put paid to his transfer.
Wolves have rejected a bid from Aston Villa for Robbie Keane, a player Tottenham have been watching for some time.

Arsenal are believed to be preparing a £10 million bid for Emile Heskey of Leicester City, should the Nicolas Anelka sale eventually go through. Tottenham have been trailing the England striker all summer and may have to move to match the price if they intend to capture him.
Ronny Rosenthal, the agent of Najuan Grayeb, has said he hopes a deal can be thrashed out in the next few days. The player's transfer to Spurs has broken down as his medical revealed a knee problem and the club have said that they are in no danger of legal action as they would not have entered into a binding deal without a clean bill of health.
Sol Campbell has been reported as saying he will not sign the extension to his contract until the club show signs of consistent success. This would involve winning more trophies, getting beyond the first few rounds in Europe and being placed in the top three in the Premier League.
On the departure for the club's Swedish pre-season tour, GG said he is pleased that the players have returned to training in good shape and thought that the trip would provide them with a degree of match fitness for the season to come.
Gary Mabbutt has had two offers to go into management from Northern clubs, but has resisted as he wishes to keep his family based in the South. Also, he wants to concentrate on television work at the moment.

In an interview on Greater London Radio aired today, Sol Campbell said he did not know where the rumours of him leaving Tottenham have come from, but he was happy to stay at the club as he was "a Tottenham boy". He went on "The fans here have been unbelievable to me and the club is moving in the right direction. Why would I want to leave?" Roma, Manchester United and Liverpool (although this must be a bogus link, as Sol is English) will be disappointed at this news.
Spurs have been linked with French international Youri Djorkaeff. The Inter Milan midfielder looks set to leave and is being touted as a possible signing by Newcastle United. David Pleat has stated on Media Monitor that the club have no interest in this player.
Italian striker, Benito Carbone, has been transfer listed by Sheffield Wednesday. The player has been quoted as saying he loves the fans and the club and it would not be his decision if he had to leave. Tottenham have been immediately linked with the £5 million rated forward.
The opening game of this year's Rugby World Cup looks set to be staged at White Hart Lane. With Wembley undergoing rebuilding, the stadium at Tottenham was suitably located and available to host the first match of the tournament.

A report in the Mirror today has claimed that adidas will project a picture of Tottenham's new kit onto Highbury Stadium to promote the kit's launch.
Tim Sherwood, Allan Nielsen and Sol Campbell have all returned to training after an extended break following their post-season Euro 2000 games. Ramon Vega has slipped into his training kit and appears to have made an excellent recovery from his broken ankle, while Chris Armstrong will continue to recover from his surgery while the rest of the squad fly to Sweden for some pre-season matches.
Following the collapse of the Bridges deal, it is rumoured that Tottenham have switched their attention to Derby County's Paolo Wanchope. Reports indicate that West Ham United are favourites to sign the Costa Rica forward, at a cost of £3.5 million.
Having baulked at over £1 million for Rory Allen, Alan Ball may be set to return to Tottenham to offer £3 million for Les Ferdinand. Again, it is unlikely that GG will let the England forward leave without securing the services of another forward to replace him.

Tottenham's summer transfer dealings took another blow today with the news that Naguan Grayeb may not be joining Spurs following the discovery of a knee and ankle problem during a recent medical. It appears the £1.4 million deal with the Hapoel Haifa club may now be off.
Chris Armstrong is said to be looking good in pre-season training after having two operations on his feet during the summer. The striker who had problems with both feet tidied up in the break is said to be looking sharp and may be ready to realise his potential.
Aston Villa's alleged lack of ambition could lead to Ugo Ehiogu leaving Villa Park. The 26 year old defender has criticised the club and this could signal the end of his time there. Arsenal and Tottenham have been keeping a watchful eye on the situation, although now Chris Perry has been signed, it is questionable whether another centre-half would be on GG's hit-list (despite his collection of players in that position when he was at Highbury!!).

Spurs have pulled out of the deal for Sunderland's Michael Bridges after failing to agree personal terms. It is believed the the England Under-21 striker wanted around £1 million a year, which would have put him among the top earners at White Hart Lane. Even Sunderland officials are expressing surprise that Bridges did not want to sign for a club "of Tottenham's stature" and that he was not satisfied with Spurs' offers. It is believed that the player also wanted some assurance on a first team place, which could not be given. Bridges also did not seem to want to move down South, which is a strange thing as Tottenham have always been located in North London !!
It appears that Fulham are still keen on Les Ferdinand, but it is unlikely that GG will let him go unless a replacement is signed beforehand.
Millwall's Marc Bircham is the latest subject of a transfer battle between Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur. The Canadian international won plaudits in matches against South American sides and the full-back would be expected to cost around £1.5 million. However, some doubt over these rumours exists as he is not even a regular in the Second Division side at the moment.

Apparently, the Michael Bridges deal is still in the balance, with Leeds United and Aston Villa set to match the asking price Tottenham have already met (around £4 million plus additions for appearances). The player is due at Tottenham for a medical and personal terms to be discussed.
If Bridges was to sign, then Chris Armstrong may be the player to make way for him. Fulham and Middlesbrough are keeping tabs on the situation and may be poised to move in with a £4.5 million bid if the Sunderland striker arrives.
One time Spurs transfer target rumour, Eyal Berkovic of West Ham United, has signed for Celtic for £5.5 million.
Tottenham are once again being linked with Norwich City's Welsh midfielder, Craig Bellamy. It is thought the player would fetch a fee of around £5 million should he move from Carrow Road.
Costa Rican international, Paolo Wanchope is being mentioned as a possible transfer target for Tottenham. The player has been put on the Derby County transfer list and would demand a price of around £3 million.
Middlesbrough have denied any recent interest in Danish midfielder Allan Nielsen. They did make an enquiry before the season ended, but they were rebuffed and have not been back since.
Tottenham Hotspur plc are to go ahead with the trademarking of the name Tottenham. The Patent Office have said that this could be problematical as local traders would be opposed to the move and might have to change their names, should the trademark be granted.
Mark Gower has said that this is his "make or break" season at Tottenham. He hopes to break into the first team squad on a more permanent basis, but if this is not the case by May next year, he may have to consider where his future lies.
George Graham has the fourth safest job in the Premier League according to William Hill, the bookmakers. He is rated as 6-1 for the sack this season. The favourite is David Jones of Southampton at 6-4.
Watford are releasing Ronnie Rosenthal from his contract a year early. The player will be free to find himself a new club.

It is thought that Tottenham's improved £7.5 million bid for Emile Heskey has been refused by Leicester City and David Pleat has said that it appears that Martin O'Neill is not interested in selling. It is doubtful if Spurs will return to trouble the Midlands club any further.
Newspaper reports claim that Tottenham and Sunderland have agreed a £5 million fee for England Under-21 striker, Michael Bridges. It is said that the player will sign today.
Allan Nielsen has had a clear the air talk with George Graham and the two have settled their differences, so the Denmark midfielder will be staying at Spurs for the foreseeable future. He will fight for his place in the midfield with Freund and Sherwood.

Tottenham are reported in today's papers to be interested in 22 year old Lazio left-back Stefano Lombardi, who would be available for around £3 million. David Pleat has denied that the club are interested in the player.
Tottenham's home match against West Ham United to be covered by Sky TV has been moved back to Monday 6 December to allow Alan Sugar to recover from his son Daniel's wedding on the Saturday prior to the game. Also Spurs' home match against Leicester City has been moved to Sunday 3 October.

Chris Sutton has signed for Chelsea from Blackburn Rovers at a fee of £10 million. Tottenham were believed to be interested, but the West London club stole a march on other clubs to snatch the striker for a club record fee.
Chris Perry will have a medical before signing for Tottenham today. The Wimbledon defender will be hoping his transfer will push his claim for an England place. He did say that he does not presume he will be granted a starting position next to Sol, but will be working hard to force his way past Vega and Scales to team up with the England central defender. He said "I always intended to leave this summer, so a change of manager did not make any difference. This move is like a new lease of life for me."
There has been a delay in the signing of Naguan Grayeb, because of problems obtaining a work permit.

George Graham is claimed to have said that if Darren Anderton does not commit himself to the club he may be sold. The England midfielder is stalling over an extension to his current deal which he has said he will sign and then that he wants more time to think it over.
Moussa Saib's move to Auxerre may be back on if Tottenham reduce the £2 million asking price. It is believed that Guy Roux, the French club's manager, will fly to London for discussions when he returns from the team's training camp.

The charges were dropped after the Crown Prosecution Service said the lack of a crucial witness meant that a successful prosecution was unlikely.
