have claimed that the deal for Robbie Keane had
"gone off the boil".
Confusion reigns over the Oyvind
Leonhardsen move to Tottenham, which may have
been slowed down by conflicting stories over the
fee involved. It is said that Houllier may be willing to sell for £2 million, despite turning
down £2.2 million earlier in the summer. We
await developments.

Les Ferdinand has been having round
the clock treatment on a bruised bone in his
foot, but he is confident that he will be fit for
the West Ham United match next Saturday.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has put in a
transfer request to Leeds United and reports have
linked him with a move to Tottenham. However, as
Athletico Madrid have had a £10 million bid
turned down, it is unlikely that Spurs would be
able to match the money needed to tempt him away
from Elland Road ... not that Mr. Ridsdale would
be likely to sell him to THFC anyway.
Peterborough's Matthew Etherington
is set to go to Old Trafford on trial. The young
winger has long been a target for Spurs.
Bryan Robson has had a dig at
Tottenham when he signed Paul Ince for £1
million. He said when you look at players like
Tim Sherwood, who Spurs bought for £4 million,
Ince is a bargain. Blackburn Rovers did not want
Sherwood to leave and Liverpool wanted shot of
Ince - that is the difference.
Bernard Diomede's transfer from
Auxerre to Newcastle United depends upon Moussa
Saib being sold to the French club to replace him.
A £1 million bid has been turned down by
Tottenham.

A Spurs XI won at non-league Welling
United tonight 3-2. They were 2-0 down, but goals
from Thelwell, Piercy and McVeigh gave Tottenham
the win.
GG has hinted that he will not be
rushed into buying a forward to cover his ailing
strike force. He said that he would only buy

Oyvind Leonhardsen is said to be close to
completion and he could be a Spurs player by the

finding one for the right money is the hard part.

had been touted as a possible signing by Spurs,
has joined Rosenborg of Norway for £2.07
million.
27.7.99
David Pleat has been rumoured to be
in Denmark, watching a young Danish striker Iddi
Alkhag, who is 20 years old. The forward is only
in his first full season and although very quick
and a prospect for the future, may not be a
serious target for Tottenham at the moment.
The Spanish press are linking
Tottenham to a move for Youri Djorkaeff along
with Aston Villa and Manchester United. It said
that we were the closest to sign him at this
time.
The Times have linked us with a £6
million move for Robbie Keane after Saturday's
friendly against his club, Wolverhampton
Wanderers. They also mention Argenitina's Claudio
Cannigia.
It has been said that Tottenham hold
the key for Robbie Keane's transfer from
Wolverhampton Wanderers. Not only are they
willing to meet the asking price of £6 million,
which only Middlesbrough have met (but Keane
didn't want to go there), but apparently, the ace
that Spurs are holding is Ruel Fox, who, for some
reason, is coveted by Wolves.

Robbie Blake on the transfer list. Having failed

the newly promoted club will be looking for

about Wolverhampton Wanderers' Robbie Keane, but
no bid has been made yet.
25.7.99
Tottenham are set to swoop for
Robbie Keane of Wolverhampton Wanderers for £6
million as Aston Villa are not willing to up
their £5.5 million bid. The urgency has been
prompted by Chris Armstrong having a hernia
operation which will keep him out of the side for
6 weeks.
Newspaper reports are linking
Tottenham as one of the clubs interested in
Wimbledon's Michael Hughes, who looks set to
leave the club following Joe Kinnear's exit. A
fee of £5 million has been mooted.
Other fanciful transfer talk has
linked Darren Anderton as a £6 million target
for Nottingham Forest ! It is unlikely that this
move will come off, as Dazza may not want to drop
a division and if Tottenham cannot meet his pay
demands, will Forest ??
24.7.99
Tottenham drew 2-2 with Heart of
Midlothian today. They were 2-0 up at half-time

12 January 2000.
22.7.99
Najuan Grayeb's solicitor is
threatening to sue Tottenham for breach of
contract following the failure to complete his transfer from Hapoel Haifa. He claims that two
seasons without missing a game are evidence that
the player was fit and that he lost bargaining
power after turning down Anderlecht and Aston
Villa to sign for Spurs. Tottenham claim that
what was signed was only a confirmation of the
player's salary should he pass a medical.
£650,000 in damages is sought.
Paul McVeigh hopes that the transfer
of Rory Allen to Portsmouth might help him in the
selection race for a forward place at White Hart
Lane. He said it is going to be a big season for
him and he that being on the pre-season tour was
a big boost for him.
Chris Armstrong says he should be
fit to play in a couple of weeks time and has
remained in England while the side were on tour
in Sweden to aid his recuperation.
Ricky Hill has been talking to Sky
about his plans for Tottenham's Under-19's, of
whom he is the new coach. He wants to produce
creative intelligent players who will be able to
progress as professionals. 16 out of 18 of his
Under-19 squad at Sheffield Wednesday have been
awarded pro contracts and he hopes that he has
brought them on to be prepared for the life of a
professional footballer. Hill hopes to become a
manager as soon as possible and said that
Tottenham has a friendly atmosphere, but everyone
is focused on the job in hand. His Sheffield
Wednesday side was beaten in the title final by
West Ham United last season and the management at
Spurs have great hopes for the future for the
young players at the club.
A Tottenham XI won 1-0 away at
Dagenham and Redbridge tonight.
21.7.99
TeamTalk has claimed that Fulham are
still in the hunt for Les Ferdinand to link up
with on-loan Stan Collymore. However, they
contradict this by saying that Paul Bracewell is
unlikely to move for the former England forward
as he is happy with his existing strike force.
Spurs spending for the close season
may be over, according to some reports. Graham's
search for a striker may be put on hold until he
is able to get the players he wants, because
Iversen and Dominguez have been scoring well in
pre-season friendlies. GG may be ready to blood
the younger players in the squad to find out if
they can make the move to the first team.
Michael Bridges is frustrated that
he looks uncertain to play first team football in
the coming season. He said he didn't feel that a
move to Tottenham was right for him and that it
wasn't about money as Spurs offered decent terms.

complete his move to Auxerre. The players
representative said Tottenham must have a lot of
money to waste if they would not let Saib leave
and stay on the high wages he is currently
earning.
Tottenham have been watching Norwich
City's Craig Bellamy for some time, but it now
appears that he may miss the majority of next
season after injuring his knee in a pre-season
friendly at Southend United. Scans show that he
has cruciate ligament damage.
Unsubstantiated rumours are
spreading on the Internet that Chris Armstrong
and some money may be going to Sunderland with
Michael Bridges making the move in the opposite
direction. This appears to derive from the fact
that Leeds United will not up their bid of £4
million for the young striker. However, there
still seems to be hurdles to overcome in this
move if the original stumbling blocks were to be
believed. The wages and the fact that Tottenham
is too far South means that Spurs will have to
flash the cash to attract the forward and move
Tottenham some 150 miles nearer the North-East.
Even more speculation has arisen as
Clubcall are reported to have Arsene Wenger
saying that Leicester City's young forward Emile
Heskey has already signed for another club. This
has sparked conjecture that it could be
Tottenham. Another club, if not Arsenal, could
always be Leicester though ! However, all sorts
of other rumours are springing up around this one
to add weight to it's validity. We can only wait
and see. Especially with GG coming back to
England with the rest of the squad now the tour
of Sweden is over.
Najuan Garayeb, the player who was
not signed by Spurs, has been signed by Aston
Villa - just as was the plan, before he talked to

denials in relation to speculation about Le
Saux, Christian, Stephen Hughes and Eidur
Gudjonsson.
18.7.99

Bolton Wanderers has reappeared and GG is
rumoured to bid £3 million for the player who
was a 17 year-old partner to Ronaldo at PSV
Eindhoven.
Another Sunday press story has

Graeme Le Saux. Apparently, Vialli told GG he
would not sell him for £10 million, which is
overdoing it a bit, I think.

been dragging on for some time.
Former Spurs manager Terry Venables
has been given a Saturday afternoon football
phone-in show on Virgin Radio starting on
Saturday 7 August.
While passing the new Spurs
Megastore today, in the window they displayed the
new white home kit, the yellow and navy second
kit and then I spotted a third strip, which was
predominantly navy with white and burnt orange
piping around the neck (and maybe cuffs). No
previous mention in club merchandising material
had mentioned this strip and it will be
interesting to see when it will be used or
released for sale. I have learned that this is
the training top.
Among the players who may be
playing against Arsenal for the Under-17 side
this weekend are Italian youngsters Maurizio
Consorti and Luca Di Giuliantonio. Consorti is a
midfielder and Di Giuliantonio a winger. Both are
from Rome and signed Trainee forms with Spurs
earlier this summer after being spotted playing
in a schoolboy tournament.

Tottenham drew 1-1 with Elfsborg of
Sweden this evening. Allan Nielsen scored
Tottenham's goal from a Darren Anderton cross in

14.7.99
Arsenal are believed to be preparing

City, should the Nicolas Anelka sale eventually
go through. Tottenham have been trailing the
England striker all summer and may have to move
to match the price if they intend to capture him.
Ronny Rosenthal, the agent of Najuan
Grayeb, has said he hopes a deal can be thrashed
out in the next few days. The player's transfer

not have entered into a binding deal without a
clean bill of health.

television work at the moment.
For some reason, Alex Ferguson has
named a team of his favourite players from
Premier League teams other than his own. Most
were Arsenal players, but Darren Anderton made
the side. A sympathy vote perhaps or an
indication of a possible buyer should Daz not
sign that contract extension ??

centre-half, has joined Southampton on under the
Bosman ruling. Tottenham had been linked with the
player.
13.7.99
In an interview on Greater London
Radio aired today, Sol Campbell said he did not
know where the rumours of him leaving Tottenham
have come from, but he was happy to stay at the
club as he was "a Tottenham boy". He
went on "The fans here have been
unbelievable to me and the club is moving in the
right direction. Why would I want to leave?"
Roma, Manchester United and Liverpool (although
this must be a bogus link, as Sol is English)
will be disappointed at this news.

midfielder looks set to leave and is being touted

Chris Armstrong will continue to recover from his
surgery while the rest of the squad fly to Sweden
for some pre-season matches.

in the break is said to be looking sharp and may
be ready to realise his potential.
Aston Villa's alleged lack of
ambition could lead to Ugo Ehiogu leaving Villa
Park. The 26 year old defender has criticised the
club and this could signal the end of his time
there. Arsenal and Tottenham have been keeping a
watchful eye on the situation, although now Chris
Perry has been signed, it is questionable whether
another centre-half would be on GG's hit-list
(despite his collection of players in that position when he was at Highbury!!).
10.7.99
Spurs have pulled out of the deal
for Sunderland's Michael Bridges after failing to
agree personal terms. It is believed the the
England Under-21 striker wanted around £1
million a year, which would have put him among
the top earners at White Hart Lane. Even
Sunderland officials are expressing surprise that
Bridges did not want to sign for a club "of
Tottenham's stature" and that he was not
satisfied with Spurs' offers. It is believed that
the player also wanted some assurance on a first
team place, which could not be given. Bridges
also did not seem to want to move down South,
which is a strange thing as Tottenham have always
been located in North London !!
It appears that Fulham are still
keen on Les Ferdinand, but it is unlikely that GG
will let him go unless a replacement is signed
beforehand.
Millwall's Marc Bircham is the
latest subject of a transfer battle between Leeds
United and Tottenham Hotspur. The Canadian

some doubt over these rumours exists as he is not
even a regular in the Second Division side at the
moment.

West London club stole a march on other clubs to
snatch the striker for a club record fee.
Chris Perry will have a medical
before signing for Tottenham today. The Wimbledon
defender will be hoping his transfer will push
his claim for an England place. He did say that
he does not presume he will be granted a starting
position next to Sol, but will be working hard to
force his way past Vega and Scales to team up
with the England central defender. He said
"I always intended to leave this summer, so
a change of manager did not make any difference.
This move is like a new lease of life for
me."
