Friday 06.04.2007   (For other Spurs history on this day click here; For the current news on each player in the squad, click here)

The row over the violence that flared at the Spurs UEFA Cup tie in Sevilla last night has hit the news all day today.
The Spanish officials say that drunken Spurs fans fuelled the trouble, while every other report indicates that over zealous policing from the Spanish force in the stadium was to blame, with a disabled supporter, children, women, two Spurs stewards and the club's disability co-ordinator among those attacked by police.

Club Secretary John Alexander has said that the club will be gathering evidence to present to UEFA to show the real events of last night and that the FA's representative, the local Police Commander and British Embassy officials will all provide statements to support the views against the local police handling of the match.  It was only due to Tottenham officials intervening to get the riot police removed from the Spurs section after half-time that calmed the situation down.
Even so, Paul Robinson had to stop the team coach when it was leaving the stadium, as a Spurs fan was taking a photo of the coach and was set upon by Police.  The England goalkeeper stopped the incident and took the fan into the stadium so that he could receive treatment.
UEFA say they will look into the events surrounding the match and have not made any decision on action regarding the outcome as they are in the very early stages of their investigation.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Young-Pyo Lee, Paul Stalteri and Pascal Chimbonda all received knocks in the UEFA Cup game in Sevilla and will be assessed before the game at Chelsea tomorrow.  Ricardo Rocha returns to the side after being cup-tied and some of the fringe players might be called upon to play if the need arises.
