   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Bad calves keep Mido and Teemu Tainio out of the visit of Reading to White Hart Lane.  Also ruled out of the match are Ledley King (foot), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee), Danny Murphy (Achilles), Anthony Gardner (broken leg) and Hossam Ghaly (flu).
  
READING TEAM NEWS : - Graeme Murty will miss the match after getting a calf injury while on international duty with Scotland.
   Tottenham Reserves away game at Aston Villa will now be played on the original date of Tuesday 11th April instead of the date it had been moved to of Wednesday 11th April.

   The Sun claim that Spurs might find Curtis Davies too expensive at £10 million, so want to snap up £2m rated 19 year old Leyton Orient defender Brian Saah in the summer to cover for the injury hit club captain Ledley King, although the O's manager has said there is no offer on the table as yet.  As a result, the paper claim that Anthony Gardner could move to Portsmouth, Birmingham or West Ham.  Spurs are also rumoured to be looking at Borussia Dortmund's 26 year old German international central defender Christian Metzelder, according to the Daily Mirror, although the player favours a move to Real Madrid.

   Tottenham announces a £14.3million profit, before player trading, for the second half of 2006.  This is increased from the second half of the previous year, when £5.8million was made, no doubt boosted by the Puma kit deal and shirt sponsorship from Mansion
   Paul Robinson and Aaron Lennon started England's 3-0 win over Andorra in Barcelona tonight.  Jermain Defoe entered the field of play as a substitute in the 61st minute.
   Emil Hallfredsson played for Iceland in the 0-1 defeat away in Spain in a Euro 2008 qualifier before being substituted in the 74th minute.
   Dimitar Berbatov played for Bulgaria in their home 0-0 draw with Albania in the Euro 2008 qualifying game.

   Mido is attracting attention in the papers by claiming that Manchester City still want to buy him after their initial interest in January was knocked back by Spurs.  The Egyptian forward also reckons Celta Vigo and PSV Eindhoven are after him.
   The two fans who entered onto the pitch at White Hart Lane after the Chelsea Sixth Round FA Cup replay last week have received three year bans from football matches from Haringey Magistrates Court after being found guilty.  They were both fined £300.

  MEHSTG's spin story ... The BBC Football website reports that "Kroenke Sports Enterprise (KSE) have "no interest or intention" of buying into Arsenal according to a spokesman for the American company."  Well, me neither !!

   Spurs and Arsenal are linked with a £15 million move for Everton and England striker Andy Johnson in the summer according to the Sunday Mirror.  Surely not ??  The Sunday Express claim that Tottenham quickly rebuffed any suggestion of a swap deal involving Dimitar Berbatov and Peter Crouch when Liverpool put it to them.  If Werder Bremen fail to agree a new contract with striker Miroslav Klose, then Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal might be in for the £5 million rated German international forward.  The People reckon that Fulham will try and steal Wayne Routledge away from Spurs in the summer by offering £2 million and that Spurs are watching Leeds United's young talented 17 year old forward Tom Elliott, who has already featured in the struggling Championship side's team.
   Paul Stalteri scored for Canada in their 3-0 win over Bermuda in a friendly today.
   Egypt's 3-0 win over Mauritius featured a goal from Hossam Ghaly as the holders won this African Cup of Nations qualifier.

   Paul Robinson and Aaron Lennon started England's 0-0 draw in Israel tonight in their 2008 European Championship qualifying match.  Lennon was taken off after 83 minutes, while Jermain Defoe came off the bench in the 79th minute.
   In the first competitive match at Wembley, England Under-21s drew 3-3 with Italy Under-21s.  Wayne Routledge started the match and scored the second goal by an England player to put the team 2-1 ahead.  Tom Huddlestone came on as a substitute in the 79th minute, while Ben Alnwick was left on the bench.
  
Robbie Keane captained the Republic of Ireland in their first competitive match at Croke Park, when they won 1-0 against Wales in the Euro 2008 qualifier.  He was booked so misses the Republic's midweek tie against Slovakia and was substituted in the 89th minute.
   Young-Pyo Lee was in the South Korea side that lost 0-2 to Uruguay in a friendly.
  
Kieran McKenna played for the Northern Ireland Under-21 side that lost out 0-2 to Romania.
   The Under-18 Academy side lost 0-1 away to West Ham United this morning.

   Spurs are reported to be leading the chase for Sporting Lisbon winger Nani, but the Portuguese club has said it will take £13.5 million to prise him away from his club.  It is reported in the Sun that Damien Comolli watched him play for Sporting in their 1-0 victory over Porto on Sunday and that the player is keen to move abroad.

   Sevilla's request for the first leg of the UEFA Cup quarter final to be moved from the town's Maundy Thursday Festival date has been refused by UEFA.
   Former Spurs striker Paul McVeigh has joined Burnley on loan from Norwich City.
   Former Spurs midfielder Rohan Ricketts has joined QPR on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

   CRIME WATCH ... Paul Jewell has been fined £2,000 and given s suspended two-match ban for his comments about referee Phil Dowd's performance against Arsenal ... Harry Redknapp has been given a £750 fine for his comments about the lack of action after Joey Barton's challenge on Pedro Mendes left him with Achilles damage ... Lille were fined £42,000 for the lack of security at their Champions League game against Manchester United and for protesting against United's goal by threatening to walk off the pitch.  United received a £6,300 fine for the behaviour of their  fans on the night ...

   Dimitar Berbatov's agent has said that despite his client attracting attention from some big clubs, he intends to stay at White Hart Lane and honour his contract with Tottenham.
   The FA claim that they will not take any action against any individual Chelsea player for getting involved in any aggressive intent after the pitch invader had been wrestled to the floor.  This is despite reviewing the video evidence from Sky TV and the BBC and the newspapers this morning claiming that Didier Drogba might be the main focus of the FA's attention for his part in the melee.
   Sevilla have contacted UEFA to request a change of date for the UEFA Cup quarter final tie with Tottenham because of the clash with the Easter Maundy Thursday festival which attracts a million people.
   Tottenham's game away at Wigan Athletic has been moved from Saturday 14th April to Sunday 15th April with a 1.30 p.m. kick off to be covered by Sky TV. 
The match at White Hart Lane against Arsenal on Saturday 20th April will now kick off at 12.45 p.m. so the game can be shown on Sky's pay-per-view channel.
With the game against Charlton Athletic being shifted to Monday 5th May with an 8.00 p.m. kick off from Saturday 3rd May to be covered by Sky, our home game against Blackburn Rovers scheduled for Easter Monday 9th April is now on Sky on Thursday 10th May kicking off at 8.00 p.m.

   Tottenham will face an FA inquiry into the incident at the end of last night's game against Chelsea when two supporters ran onto the pitch.  The FA claim that they are of the opinion that the fans encroachment onto the field of play is "totally unacceptable."  Spurs have issued a statement saying they have banned the Tottenham fan for life from White Hart Lane, while they have passed the details of the other fan to Chelsea as he is a fan of the West London club.
   UEFA have said that Tottenham's next opponents in the UEFA Cup, Sevilla, have not yet made a request to the governing body to move the date of the first leg.  The Spanish city hosts the Easter Maundy Thursday festival and feel that policing might be at full stretch if the game is on the same day.
   Former Spurs youth full back Mark Wright has returned to Grays Athletic from his loan spell at Crawley Town, but has gone out on loan once more ... this time to Rushden and Diamonds.

   Spurs lost 1-2 to Chelsea in their FA Cup Sixth Round replay at White Hart Lane tonight.  Match report to follow.
   A Tottenham fan ran onto the pitch after the game tonight to try to throw a punch at Frank Lampard.  He missed the midfielder and was wrestled to the ground by a member of the Chelsea bench, who was then replaced by stewards.  While still on the ground, it appeared that some Chelsea players ran to the incident to become involved in kicking the man while he was on the ground.
   Charlie Daniels has returned to Tottenham from his loan at Chesterfield after suffering knee ligament damage after a  tackle in the Spireites game against Swansea City

   Martin Jol has put a £40 million price tag on striker Dimitar Berbatov and said that he is confident of keeping him despite interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, who are said to be considering a £25 million off in the summer in the News of the World.  The same paper reckons Tottenham will lead the charge for West Bromwich Albion central defender Curtis Davies in the summer as cover for Ledley King.  A £7 million deal is said to be set with Anthony Gardner going the other way too.  The Sunday People reckon that Spurs scouts have been watching Southend United striker Freddie Eastwood.
   Spurs season ticket prices have been announced on the club website and surprise, surprise, they have not been reduced or even kept frozen at this year's prices as other club's have done.  The most expensive season ticket is in the West Upper central at £1,550.  Club membership also changes.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -
 There are no new injury problems after yesterday's game and the three players rested  - Aaron Lennon, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane - should return to the starting line-up for tomorrow night's FA Cup replay.
   CHELSEA TEAM NEWS : - Michael Essien hopes to be over a knee injury to play in the Sixth Round replay.

   Watford assistant manager and former Tottenham manager Keith Burkinshaw claims that the Hornets goalkeeper Ben Foster is better than Ray Clemence and Pat Jennings were when he was at White Hart Lane.
  
Tottenham's Under-18 side beat Arsenal 3-1, with Alec Olsen, Jake Livermore and Daniel Hutchins the goal-scorers.

   Spurs have been drawn to meet Sevilla in the quarter final of the UEFA Cup with the first leg away on 5th April and the second on 12th April at White Hart Lane.  If Tottenham win through this stage, they will face the winner of the Bayer Leverkusen v Osasuna quarter final.
   Paul Robinson, Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe are selected for the England World Cup squad for next Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Israel.
   The Independent says that Liverpool are trying to tempt Dimitar Berbatov away from White Hart Lane by offering Peter Crouch to Spurs
.  Although they go on to add that the Bulgarian is unlikely to leave Tottenham, Crouch could be on the move and might be an option for Spurs, who are also believed to be favourites to sign Charlton Athletic's Darren Bent and have an interest in signing West Bromwich Albion's Diomansy Kamara or Wigan Athletic's Henri Camara.  No doubt Tottenham will be hoping for goals on film. 
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Teemu Tainio is out for two weeks with a calf strain, but Aaron Lennon has recovered from a kick on his knee and Jermaine Jenas should return to the fold after his groin strain, with Paul Robinson hoping to be fit enough to feature between the sticks.
   WATFORD TEAM NEWS : - 
Watford have Lee Williamson, Gareth Williams and Will Hoskins back following their absence from the FA Cup tie at Plymouth Argyle as they were ineligible.   Marlon King is still a long-term injury victim and defender Jordan Stewart joins him on the sick list with a calf injury.

   Dimitar Berbatov has revealed the story behind the armband he has been sporting of late on the THFC website.  The armband is to publicise "the ‘You Are Not Alone’ campaign, a project canvassing for the release of five Bulgarian nurses who are currently facing the death penalty in Libya, accused of deliberately infecting children with HIV through a lack of care."
   Berba also revealed that he was unhappy with the press for suggesting that he is in contract talks with the club in an attempt to increase his salary and the length of his contract.  The Bulgarian said that he concentrated on his football and was content with his deal and with entertaining the fans at the club.

  CRIMEWATCH ... Arsene Wenger has been charged with improper conduct and/or bringing the game into disrepute by the Football Association after the Arsenal coach's comments after calling the linesman a "liar" last month's Carling Cup final ...  ...

   Tottenham's FA Cup Sixth Round replay against Chelsea at White Hart Lane is to be shown live on BBC1, so will now kick off at 8.05 p.m.
   Martin Jol has vigorously denied that he was forced to play Dimitar Berbatov by the Tottenham board for Sunday's FA Cup Sixth Round tie at Chelsea.
  
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Spurs were hit by Anthony Gardner's news that he has a hairline fracture of his fibula and will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.  This comes on top of Paul Robinson's thigh injury, Benoit Assou-Ekotto's cartilage operation, Jermaine Jenas' groin injury, Ledley King's broken foot, Danny Murphy's Achilles problem and Ricardo Rocha being ineligible.  Robbie Keane is back though.

   Martin Jol is reported as saying that Tottenham cannot win the league title in an article in the Guardian today, hinting that he might have to move back to Holland in two or three years  to do so with one of the big clubs to achieve his ambition of completing medals in non-league, cup and league competitions.
   The Sun reports that Tottenham are favourites to sign Darren Bent from Charlton Athletic if they are relegated to the Championship this season.  It is believed that the England striker would prefer to move to White Hart Lane for around £10 million.  buy
   Spurs under-18s drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town at Spurs Lodge this morning, with Jonathan
Obika equalising an early Town goal.

   On Football 365, Spurs are linked with a move for Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell, who is also interesting Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Everton.
   Reserve team defender Charlie Daniels has joined Chesterfield
on loan for a month.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will be without Benoit Assou-Ekotto (cartilage) and Ledley King (foot) are definitely out, while Jermaine Jenas might make the squad after his groin strain and Mido after his knee cyst.
   CHELSEA TEAM NEWS : -  A decision has to be made on whether to recall head injury victim John Terry, but the rest of the squad emerged unharmed from their Champions League tie with Porto on Wednesday.  A foot injury keeps Joe Cole out.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs welcome back midfielders Didier Zokora and Steed Malbranque to the squad for the trip to Portugal to meet SC Braga after overcoming calf and groin problems.  Jermaine Jenas' groin strain keeps him out, with cartilage operation victim Benoit Assou-Ekotto also missing out for the next seven weeks, while a groin strain rules out Danny MurphyLedley King's broken foot is still preventing him playing and Mido has a knee cyst which sidelines him.  .

   West Ham United and the Police are looking into claims that a video showing anti-Semitic and racist chanting at Sunday's game against Tottenham was put up on video hosting website You Tube before Police ordered it be removed.
  
Under-18s defender Cian Hughton and striker David Hutton helped the Republic of Ireland Under-18s win the Lisbon tournament in Portugal this week.  Both youngsters played all three games as Ireland beat Georgia and drew with Belgium (with one of the goals from Hutton) before overcoming Portugal 1-0 in the final to win the Lisbon tournament.

   Spurs are said to be lining up am £8 million bid for 6' 4" Croatian striker Nikola Zigic of Racing Santander to replace Mido in the summer according to the News of the World.  However, they might need another striker if the same paper is to be believed, as they claim both Sunderland (if promoted) and Aston Villa are keen to sign Robbie Keane, with the Midlands club willing to offer £8 million plus Juan Pablo Angel.  A tall tale of another forward target comes from the Sunday People, who reckon it will be Liverpool's Peter Crouch Spurs go for along with a renewed bid for West Bromwich Albion's central defender Curtis Davies.

   The away leg of our UEFA Cup tie against Braga on Thursday 8th March will be shown live on Channel 5 with kick off being 9.35 p.m.
   Sky Sports website claims that Tottenham have made an application to enter the club into the InterToto Cup should they fail to secure a place in a European competition this season .
   TOTTENHAM TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will be without knee injury victim Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who will need an operation and might be out for eight weeks, while
Ledley King is still out with his broken foot and Robbie Keane is suspended after last week's sending off.  Steed Malbranque has a groin problem and Danny Murphy a calf injury which rules both of them out.  Facing late fitness tests are Jermaine Jenas on his groin, Pascal Chimbonda who has a chest infection and the calf pull that Didier Zokora has suffered.
   WEST HAM UNITED TEAM NEWS : -  Three West Ham defenders - Lucas Neill who had an ankle injury, Matthew Upson's calf strain and James Collins' groin strain - are now back in training, but may not make the starting line-up.  Dean Ashton will not feature, as he is not fully over his broken ankle, while Nigel Reo-Coker is out suspended, although Lee Bowyer may return to the team.

  OTHER NEWS ... West Ham United have been charged with breaching the rules over the signing of Carlos Tevez and Javier Maschereno, which could lead to them being deducted points ...

   Former Spurs youngster Ian Stonebridge has been forced to retire at the age of 25 due to swelling of his joints.  The Wycombe striker also played for Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United on loan.
  
Former loan midfielder Stephane Dalmat expects to leave Bordeaux at the end of the season after he joined the French club on a free transfer from Racing Santander last summer.

  MEHSTG's no-spin story ... According to the papers today, West Ham had a dressing room "exchange of views" after losing 0-4 to Charlton at the weekend and when manager Alan Curbishley's threat to sell players in the summer, he was  challenged by Anton Ferdinand was wanted the boss to name names and was surprised when Curbishley responded, "You !!"
