   Tottenham beat Wigan Athletic 3-1 at White Hart Lane tonight.  For a match report click here.
   Bing the last day of the transfer window, signings were mooted and made and here are the stories that came out of that ....
   SIGNINGS.
   Spurs have signed Everton striker Louis Saha on a free transfer on an 18 month deal.
   DEPARTURES.
   Steven Pienaar has re-joined his former club Everton on loan until the end of the season.
   Sebastien Bassong has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan until the end of the season.
   Roman Pavlyuchenko has signed for Lokomotiv Moscow for a fee rumoured to be around £8 million.
   Vedran Corluka has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan until the end of the season.
   Adam Smith was recalled from his loan spell at MK Dons and immediately loaned out again to Leeds United until the end of the season.
   RUMOURS.
   Spurs were rumoured to be making Kyle Naughton's loan to Norwich City permanent, but this did not happen.
   The Daily Telegraph was linking Spurs with a last day bid for Werder Bremen midfielder Marko Marin.
   Juventus winger Milos Krasic was an option, but a deal to bring him to Tottenham on loan could not be agreed.
   With Tottenham playing Wigan Athletic rumours started circulating that they would sign striker Hugo Rodellega after the game, but although he was an unused substitute the forward stayed with Wigan for the journey back to the North-West.
   Rumours of a move for Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nelsen also failed to materialise.

   Away from transfer news ... Tottenham today announced their intention to continue with their development of a new stadium just yards from the existing White Hart Lane ground.  Having agreed a financial assistance package with Haringey and the Mayor of London of around £27 million to aid the infra-structure works around the ground, Spurs are committing themselves to the area and will improve the street scene around the ground and allow improvements to local train stations.
   On loan midfielder Tom Carroll scored in a 2-3 defeat on his debut for Derby County against Barnsley.


   OTHER NEWS ... 73 fans were killed and thousands injured when fans of Al-Masry attacked Al-Ahly players and supporters after their club's 3-1 win in Port Said in Egypt yesterday ...

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Gareth Bale has got over his thigh injury and will be ready for selection for tomorrow night's game against Wigan Athletic.  However, there are doubts over Jermain Defoe and Aaron Lennon, who both picked up hamstring strains in the FA Cup game at Watford on Friday.  Tottenham are still without Tom Huddlestone (ankle), while Sandro and William Gallas (both calf) miss out.  Ledley King will train and a decision on his fitness will be left until the last minute.
  WIGAN ATHLETIC TEAM NEWS : -  New signing Jean Beausejour could feature in the game at White Hart Lane tomorrow, but defender Antolin Alcaraz is no fit to play.  Wigan will welcome the returning Shaun Maloney and David Jones, as they seek points to lift them off the bottom of the league.
   Midfielder John Bostock has gone on loan to Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season.
   Striker Kudus Oyenuga has joined St. Johnstone on loan until the end of the season if he is able to gain international clearance.
   Goalkeeper David Button will stay on at Doncaster Rovers for another month on loan.
   Midfielder Tom Carroll has joined Derby County on loan until the end of the season.
   The Metro claims that QPR boss Mark Hughes will look to make a late move for defender Sebastien Bassong before the transfer window closes.

   Tottenham have been drawn away to Stevenage in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.  The tie will be played around the weekend of 18th/19th February.
   The Telegraph report that Spurs will have to move quickly if they are to realise the signing of Leandro Damiao, as there is interest in the £22 million rated Internacional striker from money bags clubs Paris St. Germain and Malaga.  The People claim that Spurs have been offered the forward for £20 million.
   In the Metro, Spurs are linked to a move for Wolfsburg striker Mario Mandzukic before the transfer window closes.
   The People claim French club Nice want to take Niko Kranjcar on loan for the rest of the season.

   Tottenham beat Watford 1-0 at Vicarage Road tonight in the FA Cup Fourth Round.  For a match report click here.
   The Daily Mail claims Spurs are seeking to negotiate a transfer for Sao Paulo's Brazil Under-20 defender Bruno Uvini.  Spurs want the player on loan initially, but may struggle to secure a work permit for him following Queens Park Rangers' failure to get one for Under-21 striker Henrique.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs have doubts over Gareth Bale (hamstring), Scott Parker (thigh) and Younes Kaboul (groin).  Sandro and William Gallas are both out with calf muscle strains.  All other players are available for selection.
   WATFORD TEAM NEWS : -  The Hornets have no problems going into the Fourth Round FA Cup tie at home to Spurs.
   Tottenham may be eyeing a pre-season tour to the USA in July with Baltimore and Los Angeles mooted to be on the itinerary, to tie in with the new kit deal with Under Armour.
   The Daily Mail claims that Sevilla have offered £6.5 million for Giovani dos Santos, with Granada also interested, but later reports claimed that Sevilla are baulking at
6.5 million.

   A Spurs XI lost 2-3 to Leyton Orient this afternoon with the Spurs goals at Spurs Lodge scored by Simon Dawkins and Souleymane Coulibaly.
   Thursday 17th February will see the Spurs Youth team go to the Valley to play Charlton Athletic in the Fifth Round of the FA Youth Cup, with the game kicking off at 19:00 p.m.  There has to be a winner on the night, so the game will go to extra time and penalties if it is level at 90 minutes.
   Tottenham want to sign 24 year old Argentine striker Mauro Zarate from Lazio according to the Daily Mirror.


   OTHER NEWS ... Rochdale have appointed John Coleman as their new boss after agreeing a settlement with Accrington Stanley ... Portsmouth have been served a winding-up notice by HMRC, who have issued a bill for £1.6 million unpaid tax ... 

   CRIME WATCH ... Former Everton, Manchester City and Leicester City defender Michael Ball has been fined £6,000 for a homophobic tweet about Coronation Street actor Anthony Cotton ...
 


   MEHSTG's spin story ... The Daily Star reports that Arsene Wenger is in danger of losing the Arsenal dressing room.  When asked, the dressing room said, "Wenger always takes me for granted and he never sees me.  I want a move to a big club where big players change in me."

   Following the outrage in yesterday's game against Manchester City, Mario Balotelli has been charged with violent conduct for his stamp on Scott Parker's head.
   Some of Tottenham's fixtures have been moved for live TV coverage.
The home game against set originally for Saturday 3rd March has been moved to Sunday 4th March with a 16:10 p.m. kick off for Sky Sports.
Our away game at Everton will still be played on Saturday 10th march, but will now kick off at 17:30 p.m. and be shown on ESPN.
The Chelsea away game will now kick off at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday 24th March so Sky Sports can screen the match.
The home match with Swansea City is moved to Sunday 1st April and will be shown on Sky Sports, kicking off at 16:00 p.m.
   Steven Pienaar is angry that Spurs are asking £6 million for his transfer, thus putting off Queens Park Rangers, according to the Daily Mail.
   The Daily Mirror report that Olympique Lyonnais are entering the race to sign Vedran Corluka, with AS Roma originally the only team interested in the Croatian right back.

   Tottenham lost 2-3 to Manchester City at Eastlands this afternoon.  For a match report, click here.
   The Sunday Mirror claims that Spurs want £150 million from any club who wants to sign Gareth Bale.
   In the Sunday People they report that Spurs are signing up Swansea City's 21 year old midfielder Joe Allen, although he may cost Spurs £10 million either in January or in the summer.
   The paper also reveals that Bolton Wanderers are close to signing Giovani dos Santos for £5 million, although they might want to take him on loan initially, with a fee set for the summer transfer of the Mexican midfielder.
   The Sunday Mirror claims that AS Roma are keen on taking Vedran Corluka on loan but Spurs will make a decision with West Ham United also in the running to take the Croatian defender on loan until the end of the season.
   Manchester United are set to go all out to buy Luka Modric in the summer with a bid of £50 million according to the Mail on Sunday.
   The Metro reckons that Ajax's Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen has alerted Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham that he is willing to move on in the summer.
   The Mail on Sunday report that Mark Hughes will return to Tottenham with a £3.5 million offer to sign Steven Pienaar for Queens Park Rangers.
   Niko Kranjcar has been the subject of a £3 million bid by QPR, but Harry Redknapp has refused to allow the deal to go ahead at the moment, the Sun says.
   Harry Redknapp will be at Southwark Crown Court tomorrow morning at the start of the case where he faces charges of tax evasion.

   The Times are linking Rubin Kazan with a move for Roman Pavlyuchenko.
   The Under-18 team beat Leicester City 6-4 away in the FA Premier Academy League today with goals from Victor Zapata-Caceido 2, Shaquile Coulthirst 2, Mason Bush and an own goal.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  There are no new injury worries for Harry Redknapp, who has not given up on Ledley King being fit for the game at Eastlands, while Sandro and William Gallas are both still out recovering from calf muscle problems, as well as Tom Huddlestone, who is steeping up his recovery from ankle surgery.
   MANCHESTER CITY TEAM NEWS : -  Vincent Kompany is suspended for this game with Tottenham and Yaya Toure and his brother Kolo are both away on African Cup of Nations duty.  Mario Ballotelli and Micah Richards are both fit to return to the line-up after missing Monday's game at Wigan Athletic.

   The club announced that director Charlie Wijeratna left his post yesterday.
   The Daily Mail claim that Spurs are asking Bolton Wanderers for £8 million to sign midfielder Giovani dos Santos.
   Gareth Bale has been voted into the uefa.com users Team of the Year.

   A Spurs XI defeated Glasgow Celtic 4-1 at Spurs Lodge with John Bostock scoring twice (one a penalty) and the other goals coming from Cameron Lancaster (penalty) and Giovani dos Santos.
   The Daily Mirror claims Spurs have put a £20 million price tag on Jermain Defoe's head to deter any interest from the likes of Liverpool.
   Meanwhile, both the Sun and the Mirror reckon Loic Remy will stay in France with Marseille despite Tottenham's interest.
   The youth side's NextGen quarter final tie against Liverpool will be played at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 1st February with a 19:00 kick off.  Tickets are £3 for members, £5 non-member adults and £1 for children.

   Tottenham have finalised the permanent signing of loan winger Yago Falque from Juventus.  The Spanish 22 year old winger has gone out on loan to Southampton for the remainder of the season.
   The Daily Mirror claim Liverpool might launch a £10 million bid for Jermain Defoe.
   In the same newspaper, they reckon Bolton Wanderers will offer £4 million for Giovani dos Santos.
   Harry Redknapp watched Loic Remy score twice for Marseille last night and is keen to sign the 25 year old French striker.
   David Bentley's season long loan at West Ham United has been brought to an end as he has returned to Spurs for further treatment on his knee injury suffered in October.

   The Mail on Sunday claims Spurs are to move for £20 million rated Marseille striker Loic Remy and for Newcastle United Tim Krul, if not in January, then in the summer transfer window.  The Spurs boss was off to Marseille today to watch the French striker.

   Tottenham drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at White Hart Lane today.  For a match report click here.
   The Times claims Jermain Defoe's complaints about not getting enough first team football may mean it is difficult for the club to hold onto him in the January transfer window.
   Tottenham are said to be ready to offer David Beckham a two month loan spell as he prepares to get fit for the 2012 Olympics and a new deal at LA Galaxy, so the Metro reports.
   The Under-18s beat Birmingham City 2-0 at Spurs Lodge today with a Lee Angol penalty and a goal from Paul McBride settling the match.  Birmingham had two men sent off within 41 minutes of the match kicking off.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will go into the game with Wolverhampton Wanderers without the injured Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Sandro (calf), William Gallas (calf) and Ledley King (hamstring).  They are hopeful that Scott Parker might pass a late fitness test after missing the last few games with a knee injury.
   WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS TEAM NEWS : -   Ankle injury victims Steven Fletcher and Roger Johnson both expect to start for Wolves at White Hart Lane, while the Midlanders have Nenad Milijas back after suspension and Edwards available after recovering from a groin problem.

   The Daily Mirror claims that Spurs are watching Real Murcia goalkeeper Javier Jimenez as they search for a new goalkeeper to eventually succeed Brad Friedel, with the 24 year old aiming to come in on loan initially, with a permanent deal in the offing should he impress before the summer transfer window.
   Spurs have turned down an offer for midfielder Steven Pienaar believed to be from QPR.
   Harry Redknapp has said that he does not intend to allow Jermain Defoe to leave in the January transfer window either on loan or permanently.
   Midfielder Dean Parrett has gone on loan to Yeovil Town for the rest of the season.
   The Dubious Goals Panel has ruled that the first goal against Fulham on 6th November was a Chris Baird own goal and it has been taken away from Gareth Bale.

   Tottenham's FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Watford will be shown live on ESPN on Friday 27th January with a 19:45 kick off.
   The Daily Mail claims that Spurs have made a £7.5 million offer for Blackburn Rovers central defender Christopher Samba.
   Former Spurs striker Robbie Keane has joined Aston Villa on a two month loan deal from LA Galaxy.

  Tottenham beat Everton 2-0 at White Hart Lane tonight.  For a match report click here.
   The Spurs Youth team beat Cardiff City 2-1 away in the FA Youth Cup Fourth Round tonight, with goals form Jack Munns and Souleymane Coulibaly.
   A Spurs XI drew 2-2 with QPR at the West London club's Harlington training ground today with goals from Dean Parrett and Cameron Lancaster.
   The Times claims Harry Redknapp wants Daniel Levy to give him £7 million to sign Bolton Wanderers central defender Gary Cahill, whose move to Chelsea has stalled over terms and the demand for a first team place.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -   Spurs go into the Everton match without Ledley King and likely to be without Scott Parker too, who is very doubtful with a knee injury.  Sandro and William Gallas are both ruled out after suffering calf injuries in the West Bromwich Albion game, while Tom Huddlestone is still coming back from surgery on his ankle.
   EVERTON TEAM NEWS : -  The Toffees are in the midst of an injury crisis at the moment with Jack Rodwell (hamstring), Seamus Coleman (thigh), Tim Cahill (groin), Phil Jagielka (knee), Ross Barkley and Leon Osman (both knee) are all missing or very doubtful for the match.  Landon Donovan on loan from LA Galaxy will be available and Victor Anichebe is fit again to play.

   Harry Redknapp has spoken in glowing terms about Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba and  Marseille forward Loic Remy, but claimed that he is not making a move for them in the transfer window.
   In the Daily Mirror, William Gallas says he turned down a move to Paris St. Germain to stay with Tottenham.
   In the same paper, Sebastien Bassong says he would welcome a move away in the transfer window if it meant he was playing more regular first team football.

   The Daily Mirror run a story in which Harry Redknapp says that the release clause in Demba Ba's Newcastle United contract is much less than £7 million, which might start a scramble for the striker's signature.
   Jon Obika's loan to Yeovil Town has been extended to the end of the season.

   Tottenham have been drawn away to Watford in the FA Cup Fourth Round with the match to be played the weekend of 29th/30th January.
   Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent has been complaining to the Sunday Mirror that Daniel Levy wants too much to sell the striker, with clubs willing to take him, but not at the current asking price.
   The Sunday Mirror claims that Spurs will battle with QPR for Aston Villa centre-half James Collins, should they miss out on signing Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba.
   The Sunday People claims Fulham want to take Tom Huddlestone on loan, but they will not be allowed to as he will not be fit for another six weeks.
   Rumours circulating at the ground yesterday hinted that a couple of loan deals broke down, with QPR being refused permission to take Jake Livermore on loan and Vedran Corluka turned down the opportunity to join West Ham United on loan.
   The Mail on Sunday claim that Manchester United are making Luka Modric their top summer transfer target.

   Tottenham beat Cheltenham Town 3-0 at White Hart Lane in the FA Cup Third Round this afternoon.  For a match  report, click here.
   After the game, Harry Redknapp said he expected Giovani dos Santos to leave the club in the current transfer window, saying he needs to play more and train harder to get in shape.
   Spurs have been heavily linked with an £8 million bid for Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba today, with another link to the Ewood Park striker Junior Hoilett in the offing.
   According to the Sun, Spurs will not make a January move for Glasgow Celtic winger James Forrest.
   Tottenham's Under-19 side beat MK Dons 4-1 away in the FA Premier Academy League today.  Souleymane Coulibaly and Daniel Akindayini both scored two goals in the victory.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will be without Scott Parker (knee) and calf muscle victims William Gallas and Sandro, but Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon are expected to make their first team returns, with players such as Roman Pavlyuchenko, Giovani dos Santos, Sebastien Bassong, Niko Kranjcar, Steven Pienaar and Danny Rose all likely to feature.

   The Metro reckons Spurs, along with Liverpool and Sunderland, are watching the situation regarding Wigan Athletic winger Victor Moses after his contract talks have stalled with the Latics.
   The Daily Telegraph claims Spurs are seeking to pay £15 million for Santos' Brazilian international midfielder Ganso.
   Harry Redknapp revealed that a clause in Demba Ba's contract at Newcastle United has triggered an interest from Spurs in the in-form striker according to the Sky Sports website.
   The Sky Sports website also links Spurs and Liverpool with an interest in taking Juventus winger Milos Krasnic on a permanent deal in January.
   Harry Redknapp has gone on record as being disgusted by the players' practice of cutting the feet off football socks and wearing softer tennis socks taped onto the leg of the club's ones.  This has been going on for about 15 years at least in the top flight and even at the low level of football I played at in my time, I used to wear them under normal football socks, so why Harry is getting so worked up about it now, I don't know.
   Former Spurs striker Nick Barmby has announced his retirement from playing at Hull City, as he readies himself to take the Tigers' manager's post on a permanent basis.

   TalkSport's website claims Tottenham and Arsenal are both interested in signing Moussa Sow, a Senegalese striker playing for Lille.  The 25 year old would cost around £20 million.
    The Daily Express carries an article stating that Blackburn Rovers need to sell players before they can buy in January, thus the paper infers that this increases Tottenham's chances of bringing in Christopher Samba from Ewood Park, while listening to offers of Sebastien Bassong, who would make way for the Congolese international.
   In the Daily Mirror, they claim Spurs will make £6 million bids for both Christopher Samba and Junior Hoilett of Blackburn Rovers, as well as being ready to sell Vedran Corluka to West Ham United for £1.5 million and looking to sell Steven Pienaar, Niko Kranjcar and Sebastien Bassong.
   The Sun reckon Burnley want to sign Spurs defender Adam Smith, currently on loan at MK Dons, but Ipswich Town and Leeds United are both said to be interested.

   Tottenham are said by the Daily Mail to be interested in West Ham United centre half James Tomkins, who they believe is worth £2.5 million.
   The Daily Express reports that Spurs may nip in ahead of Glasgow Celtic to snap up goalkeeper Fraser Foster.  Currently on loan from Newcastle United, the Scottish Premier League side have not moved to make the deal permanent despite having first option on the goalie, but Foster is thought to prefer a return to the Premier League in a deal that may cost £2 million.
   Harry Redknapp said that Michael Dawson will play against Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday and Aaron Lennon may also make a comeback form his hamstring injury.
   Former Spurs defender Mark Stimson has left the post of Kettering Town manager after carrying out his duties for four months under extreme financial restrictions.

   Football365 claim Danny Rose might seek a loan move to get regular football to allow him to play in the Olympic Games for Team GB.
