Spurs may have been beaten to the punch in the signing of
Portsmouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, as he went
missing from the hotel in Waltham Abbey that Spurs had put
him up in and is rumoured to be in talks with Stoke City.
The News of the World claim that Daniel Levy was in talks
with Manchester United yesterday to try and sign England
goalkeeper Ben Foster, but was not happy about the £5
million asking price, as Foster has been hit by a string of
injuries in the last year or so.
The NoTW also reckon that Sunderland are about to sign
Robbie Keane for £9 million. The report claims
that now Harry Redknapp has brought in Eidur
Gudjohnsen, he can sell the Spurs captain, who he has
been looking to move on since the summer. The fee
Sunderland are offering is £8 million in the Sunday Mirror.
The same paper claims that Tottenham are trying to pip
Sporting Lisbon to the signing of Valencia midfielder
Manuel Fernandes. Harry Redknapp had him on loan
at Portsmouth and he has also spent some time at Everton,
but Spurs might be disappointed, as Internazionale are also
keen on the 23 year old Portuguese midfielder.
Continuing on the Spurs rumours, the paper says that
Fiorentina want to take forward Roman Pavlyuchenko on
loan until the end of the season. Any deal for the
Russian to go to Birmingham City is no longer an option
after the City boss Alex McLeish claimed that they are now
looking for a loan signing.
One more story from the News of the World is that West ham
United want to take full back Alan Hutton on loan
until the end of the season.
The Sunday Mirror claim that had Spurs not bought Younes
Kaboul from Portsmouth, the cash-strapped South Coast
club were just 24 hours from going into administration. The
deal was almost off when Asmir Begovic decided he
didn't want to come to White Hart Lane, but the £7 million
deal for the pair was reduced to £6 million for Kaboul
alone. However, the money might only stave off
administration for a few weeks.

Tottenham completed the loan signing of Monaco's Eidur
Gudjohnsen and he will stay at White Hart Lane until the
end of the season. However, it has been reported that
he will be given a week to settle in, so will not be part of
the match-day squad at Birmingham tomorrow.
Midfielder Jamie O'Hara has returned to Portsmouth on
loan until the end of the season.
Today's Roman Pavlyuchenko transfer story claims that
Tottenham have rejected an £8 million offer from Birmingham
City for the Russian striker.
Talks with Portsmouth about the transfer of Younes Kaboul
back to Spurs continue, with the money he brings in allowing
payment of the players at the cash-strapped South Coast club
for a month. However, the amount of money they will
receive seems to be dwindling, as they owe Spurs £2 million
for the player from the time they bought him, £2 million
will be deducted from a percentage under the sell-on clause
and Spurs also are said to have a £1 million payment for the
player being sold on too. This could reduce the actual
cost to Tottenham to around £6 million the Daily Mail
claims.
The Sun claim that West Ham United are keen to sign David
Bentley.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Aaron Lennon is

Harry Redknapp said today that he thinks Daniel Levy
has probably done a deal to bring in Monaco striker Eidur
Gudjohnsen on loan until the end of the season with
perhaps a view to a permanent transfer. The Sun claim
that Spurs will pay the striker £30,000 a week, with Monaco
making up the difference in his wages.
Rumours appear to have been ratified by BBC South that
Tottenham are in advanced transfer talks regarding the
Portsmouth centre half Younes Kaboul and goalkeeper
Asmir Begovic. The fee for former Spur Kaboul
has been quoted as £11 million, although the amount paid
will not be that figure, as the cash-strapped South Coast
club still owe Tottenham for the purchase of the player 18
months ago.
Other keepers linked with a move today in the Daily Mirror
are Coventry City's Kieron Westwood, Scott Loach
of Watford and Peterborough United's England Under-21 keeper
Joe Lewis.
The Mirror also suggests that Birmingham City have had a £6
million offer for Roman Pavlyuchenko turned down.
Talks may be continuing, with the story saying Tottenham
would accept £8 million up front and other conditions taking
the total up to £12 million or £13 million.

A bit of a row has blown up over comments made by Harry

perhaps he needed to put Bostock in the First Team squad to

Michael Dawson has signed a new contract with

Sky Sports claim that Tottenham have swooped to take the

The Daily Mail and the Mirror reckon that David Bentley
will leave Spurs during the January transfer window, but
only go as far as West Ham United on loan until the end of
the season. It is believed that the Irons might want

which will not go down well in the Tottenham boardroom.
Seeing as how the Irons are furious over the Gudjohnsen
