13.12.1986 Chris Waddle, Graham Roberts and Tony Galvin combined to produce a shooting chance for Glenn Hoddle, who picked out his spot from the edge of the penalty area and hit the net with great accuracy.

Richard Gough powered home a header from a Glenn Hoddle cross and although former Spurs striker Mark Falco scored to make it 2-1, Tottenham were never in danger of losing their lead.

24.09.1983 Spurs left Vicarage Road with three points following a classic display of top class finishing, leaving the Hornets with nothing to show for their afternoon's work.

A throw-in on the Watford left, way inside their own half was launched a long  forward by Sinnot to Barnes, just inside the Spurs half, with the ball running to Wilf Rostron off O’Reilly’s tackle.  The home defender ran past Graham Roberts' lunge to get beyond the Spurs defence and then he poked the ball past Clemence from the edge of the box to give Watford the lead on 12 minutes.

Hoddle drove wide as he drifted away from Nigel Callaghan and then at the start of the second half a Watford corner fell to Jan Lohman at the far post, but he could only blaze way over the bar.  Garry Brooke had a corner cleared at the other end and Hoddle played it into Alan Brazil's feet.  The Scot twisted and turned before firing a shot that Steve Sherwood tipped over at his near post.

Brooke’s cross was headed away in the second half for a throw-in by Terry and the Spurs midfielder took the throw to Galvin, who left the ball for Garry to play a short ball into Glenn Hoddle just inside the penalty area on the right side.  The Tottenham midfielder dragged the ball through his legs, Cruyff style and left Lohman for dead before executing the most perfect chip over the lofty Sherwood in the Hornets goal to score a fantastic goal into the keeper's top right hand corner of the goal.

Gary Mabbutt won a header on halfway, with the ball finding Falco, who hooked it forward, setting Brazil through on goal, but Sherwood got a calf to his low shot that somehow took the ball wide for a corner.  Steve Perryman had the ball on halfway and played a long ball forward only to see it headed away by Terry, but Roberts’ return header found Galvin on the left. The winger rolled the ball inside him and substitute Steve Archibald struck the ball first time from 25 yards into the top corner with Sherwood helpless to give Spurs a 2-1 lead.

Brazil beat Sinnot to a high bouncing ball forward, knocking it back to Chris Hughton, who played it infield to Galvin on the edge of the box. He let the ball run to Archibald, who took a touch and played it on to Hughton coming in from the left, having carried on his run, from where he cut inside to slide the ball home to make it 3-1.

A ball was played up to Barnes on the Watford left and as he cut into the penalty area between Perryman and Roberts, the latter took his ankle to conceded a penalty.  Callaghan converted it to Clemence's left as Ray went right.  There was only just time for Tottenham to restart, leaving the final score 3-2.

19.03.1983 Spurs shocked second place Watford with a win that earned them three points at Vicarage Road.

Alan Brazil made his first appearance for the club with an embarrassing thumbs up gesture to the Tottenham fans before the match, but put in a reasonable performance.  The single goal of the game came on 40 minutes, when Spurs were awarded a free-kick for a foul on Tony Galvin.  Steve Perryman's dead ball kick was helped on by Graham Roberts and Alan Brazil.  Wilf Rostron kicked the new signing's effort off the line, but it was slammed back past him by Mark Falco to give twelfth placed Tottenham a valuable away win, despite Luther Blissett going close with a second half header that hit the crossbar.

The win was soured when former Arsenal defender Wilf Rostron tangled with Perryman and the Spurs skipper was sent off with ten minutes of time remaining.

The match had record takings at the time of £57,436.

09.09.1975 Fourth Division Watford hosted Spurs at Vicarage Road in the League Cup Second Round, but could not prevent Tottenham progressing.

It was a hard fought win by Spurs, with Watford looking to cause an upset, but Chris Jones' goal on the hour was the only score of the match and was enough to settle the tie. However, Barry Daines, standing in for the unwell Pat Jennings, was called upon to make some saves and the Hornets came close to equalising in the final minutes of the game.
