spurs v swansea city notes
they are linked with both
Ronnie Burgess |
Moved from Tottenham to
Swansea and after a spell as a player, he took over the manager's job at
the Vetch Field. |
Tom Carroll |
Left Spurs for Swansea in
January 2017 after making the first team at Tottenham working his way up
through the ranks. A skilful, but slightly built midfielder, his
technical ability was unquestioned, but with strong competition of the
role in the Spurs first team, he was not getting regular football and
chose to move to the Liberty Stadium. |
Willie Davies |
Left Spurs for Swansea in
1933. |
Ben Davies |
Welsh international left back
who joined Spurs in a swap deal that took Gylfi Sigurdsson to Swansea in
2014, for a fee of £10,000,000. |
Percy Hooper |
Spurs keeper signed
professional in October 1935, playing 230 games either side of the World
War II and moved to Swansea later in his career making 12 league
appearances in two seasons there. |
Charlie Handley |
Discharged from the Army,
forward "Tich" spent a year before making his debut and went on to play a total
of 132 first team games scoring 36 goals between March 1922 and May
1929. Joined Swansea Town for £500. Played all along the
forward line and was noted for his deft footwork when on the ball. |
Cliff Jones |
Joined Spurs from Swansea
Town. |
Ernie Jones |
Came to White Hart Lane from
Swansea Town, signing just before the end of the 1946-47 season and
stayed until he was used in the deal to bring Alf Ramsey to Spurs from
Southampton. |
Terry Medwin |
Joined Spurs from Swansea
Town. |
Kyle Naughton |
Came to Tottenham form
Sheffield United, with a double deal that also saw Spurs sign Kyle
Walker. Initially, Naughton played regularly, but injury and
competition saw him drop out of favour, leading to him choosing to leave
for the Liberty Stadium, where he put in regularly consistent
performances for the Swans. |
Wayne Routledge |
. |
Gylfi Sigurdsson |
Icelandic midfielder who
didn't really get the opportunity to shine for Tottenham after joining
from German club Hoffenheim, moved on to Swansea, where had previously
been on loan, in a swap deal that took Ben Davies to White Hart Lane in
2014, for a fee of £10,000,000. |
Michel Vorm |
Spurs signed Vorm in a
slightly controversial manner when he came as part of the deal to bring
Ben Davies to White Hart Lane, but Vorm was classed as a free transfer.
This meant that his former club NAC Breda did not get any sell-on money
and this prompted them to pursue the case against Swansea, with Spurs
being the innocent party in the pricing of the player. Vorm went
on to be a useful back-up keeper to Hugo Lloris. |
Arthur Willis |
Went from Spurs to Swansea. |
Alan Woods |
