Spurs went through to the FA Cup semi-finals with a convincing 3-0 away win at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea started well, with Tammy Abraham winning a high ball against Davinson Sanchez and playing it right for Nathan Dyer to run onto in the box, where Michel Vorm rushed out to take the ball and then the man, with referee Kevin Friend waving play on.  With eleven minutes gone, Erik Lamela ran in from the right and played the ball to Christian Eriksen, who took the ball on and reaching the edge of the D, just right of centre, struck a left foot shot beyond Nordfeldt's right hand and inside the post to give Tottenham the lead.

It was all Spurs, as Eriksen clattered the bar with a shot from the same area that he scored from after taking Lamela's pass.  Then Lucas Moura missed a presentable opportunity from close range and Eric Dier put a header narrowly over the top. Heung-Min Son thought he had scored when he ran through in the 23rd minute, netting his shot off the underside of the bar, but VAR reviewed the goal, with the lineman's flag for offside being upheld.

As the match entered injury time at the end of the first half, Lamela popped up in the left hand channel and coming infield, rolling his foot over the ball, drifted past former Spur Tom Carroll and bent a right foot shot around Kyle Bartley, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot as the ball went in to his left.

Into the second half, ex-Swansea keeper Vorm, broke the home team's hearts with a fine double save, firstly pushing away Martin Olsson's drive from outside the area on the Swans' left and the recovering quickly to do the same to Abraham's follow-up header at close range.  Dier brought out a good stop from Nordfeldt, reaching up to his right hand top corner to tip away the Spurs midfielder's shot.

Christian Eriksen wrapped up the win in the 62nd minute, when Spurs won the ball off Carroll outside the Swansea penalty area, played it left to Dier, whose pull-back into the box found Moura and he laid it back into the path of Eriksen to drive a low right footed shot past the keeper's dive to his right, although he got a hand to it.  Towards the end, Eriksen's low-driven free-kick from outside the side of the box on the left saw Nordfeldt fumble the ball, but a scramble in the six yard box couldn't be forced home by Dier or substitute Fernando Llorente and the game ended 3-0 to Spurs.

Starting the game without the inured Gary Lineker and Gudni Bergsson (away on international duty), Pat van den Hauwe's early off the ball injury meant that John Moncur had to come on and the rest of the team be reorganised.  Raynor seized on makeshift centre-half David Howells' back pass and forced Walker to save in the fifth minute, then the Spurs keeper had to be alert to stop Ford and Coughlin's efforts.

John Hendry replaced the injured Durie at half-time and he had Tottenham's best opportunity with a 52nd minute shot that Freestone in the Swansea goal saved.  Samways drew saves from the keeper with long range drives either side of Hendry's attempt and Nayim fired a shot narrowly over the top too.

Ian Walker nimbly dived to save Williams' 71st minute pile-driver, but with two minutes to go, he was left with no opportunity to stop Swansea City captain Jimmy Gilligan's 25-yarder that flew into the top corner of the goal.

The aerial attack that Swansea rained down on Tottenham and paid dividends with player-manager John Toshack heading in a corner from Nigel Stevenson to give the Swans a eighteenth minute lead.  Danny Bartley's 37th minute cross was nodded in by Jeremy Charles and it stood at 2-0 at the break.

Ardiles and Taylor linked well to provide a 65th minute opportunity for Villa to side-foot in a goal for Spurs, but a Smith free-kick was flicked on by Alan Waddle for Alan Curtis to force the ball home to take them through to Round Three.

A draw seemed a good result as our Argentinian imports experienced British cup football for the first time.  Former Liverpool "hard-man" Tommy Smith was dismissive of the ability of Ardiles and Villa to settle and was determined to rough them up from the start - his second minute "challenge" put Ossie out of the match later, with Armstrong replacing him. 

Robbie James scored for the home side just after six minutes and it was James, who set up Jeremy Charles for a near post finish just before half-time to make it 2-0 to the home side.  Tottenham hit back in the second period, with Hoddle flighting in a free-kick that Alan Waddle handled, leading to Hoddle converting the penalty and then Gerry Armstrong scoring a leveller in the 65th minute.  Spurs almost grabbed a late winner, but Hoddle's effort was ruled out by the ref.

Martin Peters opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a header and on the half-hour, Roger Morgan also scored with a header, following up Peters' header which had bounced back off the crossbar.  It was left to Steve Perryman to wrap up the scoring with a third, running through to shoot home as the game drew to a close.
