He had a reputation for bringing through the talented youngsters at St. James' Park, but the team were struggling in the Second Division and he was sacked in February 1992. |

Archie Turner | Spent a spell at Newcastle from May 1902 after being signed from Derby County, scoring one goal in thirteen matches. Joined Tottenham in January 1904 for £100 scoring five goals in five Southern League matches, before leaving for Southampton after four months. |

Jonathan Woodgate | Centre back who started with Middlesbrough and then went to Real Madrid before returning to the North-East with Newcastle. An England international, his knee problems hampered his career and when he came to Spurs, it was an odd move, but his experience paid dividends straight away, scoring the winning goal in extra time of the League Cup Final in 2009 against Chelsea. Left Spurs after a couple of seasons and joined Stoke City, before making the sentimental move back to the Riverside Stadium to sign for Middlesbrough. |
