Juninho, Maccarone, Nemeth and all went through our midfield and back four like a knife through butter, and if the performance wasn't enough to send alarm bells ringing in the board room, then the amount of season tickets being thrown onto the pitch during the home reverse against Blackburn must have done.  The strains of "You're not fit to wear the shirt" had also begun to ring out in at least one corner of the ground during the game.

We all want success for our club, it goes without saying.  Hoddle was, to me like thousands of others, as idol as a player here, and, as such, as a Spurs icon, I want him to do well as manager.  ENIC will have to match his ambition to bring the better class players in.  Pleat has reputedly said we are in as good a financial position as any Premiership club to reinforce the squad (bar those who are in the Champions League next season), but a degree of caution is called for.  As was seen in the January transfer window, when the club didn't move in and sign a striker despite the obvious lack in depth we had in that position at that time.  Rumours abounded we were set to get Michael Ricketts and were pipped at the post by Boro.

Given that he has not been a prolific scorer since going there (and I believe has been injured for most of his spell there) it is perhaps fortunate we didn't sign him at the time !!

At the moment, I feel our strongest players are Keane, Richards, Carr, Davies and, on his day, Ledley King (although his concentration has lapsed in a few games this season).  I am not personally convinced that the likes of Bunjy, Taricco and Acimovic are of the class we need and a delve into the transfer market is desperately needed.

But only top quality signings will move us forward now.  Stop gap signings will only see us treading water and we have too proud a tradition to remain as a mid-table side for years.
