| Nick Barmby |
Developed through the
Tottenham ranks, Barmby made his debut in 1992, but left for
Middlesbrough in the summer of 1995, unhappy at not getting a regular
start, despite his 100 starts for the club. Worked his way through
Everton to arrive at Liverpool for £6 million in 2000, but never really
performed as he used to and played only 57 games before moving on again
to Leeds United. |
| Tom Bradshaw |
- |
| Frank Brettell |
Started with Everton as a
player and member of the club Everton committee until 1892 when he moved
to Liverpool until 1896. In March 1898, he took over at Spurs and
eased the club through their transition into a Limited Company.
Brought a number of top players to the club and played a major part at
the club until he left in February 1899. |
| Joe Brough |
- |
| Ray Clemence |
Spent many good years at
Liverpool, starting in 1969 winning trophies galore in his 666 first
team appearances before coming to Tottenham to win an FA Cup winners
medal in 1982. |
| Charlie Hewitt |
- |
| Robbie Keane |
Scored over 100 goals for
Tottenham in six years at the club before defecting to Liverpool in a
deal potentially worth £20.3 million in July 2008. |
| Oyvind Leonhardsen |
Started at Wimbledon and was
signed by Liverpool in 1997. Came to Spurs in 1999 in a £3.5
million deal and stayed for three years. A useful,
busy midfielder, but one who failed to impose himself at Tottenham,
before moving on to Aston Villa and then returning to Norway. |
| Doug Livermore |
A Spurs coach, reserve team
manager and assistant manager for 10 years, Doug moved into a similar
position with the Merseyside club. |
| Danny Murphy |
The England midfielder made
249 appearances and scored 44 goals for Liverpool between July 1997 and
August 2004 when he left for Charlton. He subsequently moved on to
Spurs in January 2006. |
| Frank O'Donnell |
A war-time guest for both
clubs, O'Donnell scoring once in two matches for Liverpool in 1940-41
and in 13 appearances grabbing eight goals for Tottenham between
September 1943 and September 1944. |
| Jamie Redknapp |
Signed from Bournemouth by the
Reds, after starting in Tottenham's youth side. Played 308 games
for Liverpool, before signing for Tottenham in 2002 on a free
transfer. Has been hit by injury at Spurs, as he was in his latter
days at Anfield, but as club captain showed he could still pass the ball
well, when fit. |
| Ronnie Rosenthal |
Joined Liverpool from Standard
Liege on loan initially, before signing permanently for £1.1
million. Scored a hat trick on his debut at Charlton but failed to
establish a regular place in the team and came to Spurs in 1993, staying
for three years and making 65 appearances, before leaving for Watford. |
| Neil Ruddock |
Signed as a 16 year old from
Millwall in 1985, he moved back to the South London club in 1988 before
joining Spurs again from Southampton in 1992. His signing for
Liverpool for £2.5 million in 1993 was a move that came about following
the Sugar/Venables dispute, with Ruddock no longer willing to stay at
the club, after making 55 appearances. |
| John Scales |
Was at Anfield from 1994 to
1996, when he was surprisingly sold to Tottenham. The stylish centre
half had an injury hit time at Spurs, which
saw him off to Ipswich in 2000 for a short time before he retired. |
| Tom Soulsby |
- |
| Graeme Souness |
Was an unhappy youngster at
Tottenham and left to be nearer home (although he was more keen on
getting first team football) at Middlesbrough in 1971 and went from
there to Anfield in 1978. Played 358 Liverpool games before going
to Italy to ply his trade. Returned to Merseyside as Liverpool
manager from 1991 to 1994. |
| John Stephenson |
An amateur in Liverpool's
reserves up until 1897, then playing for New Brighton Tower and Swindon
Town. Stephenson made his way to Spurs in 1901, where he played in
the Southern League side four times, but played reserve team football
for three years before being released. |
| Paul Stewart |
Played an instrumental role at
Spurs after moving back into midfield from the strikers role where had
previously made his name. Bought from Manchester City in 1988, he
stayed at Spurs until 1992, when Liverpool paid £2.5 million for him,
but he disappointed there and played only 42 games before leaving for
Sunderland in 1996. |
| Paul Walsh |
- |
| Christian Ziege |
Signed in controversial
circumstances from Middlesbrough in 2000, Ziege slotted into the left
wing back position at Anfield making 32 appearances. Injury hit
and out of favour, he moved onto Tottenham in 2001 and played a
significant part in the revival, but injuries once more restricted his
availability, leading to him being given a free transfer to Borussia
Munchengladbach in 2004. |
