Tottenham earned a 2-1 win away in the FA
Premier Academy League against a strong Ipswich Town side at
Playford. Tottenham used their speed
and ability to out-wit the Ipswich defenders, who could cope with aerial
balls, but the sharp passing on the floor caught them on the turn and
the team exploited this to control a large proportion of the play.
An early goal gave Spurs the advantage when
Massimo Luongo struck a shot into the bottom left corner of the net from
the edge of the box when Ipswich failed to clear an attack in the fourth
minute. Zapata looked likely to score as he faced the Town keeper,
but Meekings made a well-timed tackle to prevent the Spurs man getting
his shot away, then Cropper denied Coulthirst with a low save from the
striker's shot from ten yards out.
In the 18th minute, Archer was alert to change
direction to make a reflex save from a deflected Lavery shot, tipping
the ball over the bar. Ten minutes before half-time, Spurs went
2-0 ahead with good work on the left between Lamires and Zapata opening
up the defence for Shaquille Coulthirst to bury a low drive into the
bottom corner of the net.
Tottenham had controlled the game, with
Ipswich's Bennett causing problems on their right, but Lavery looked the
most likely to score, missing the target when Archer had to head
Luongo's back-pass away and then firing a ball across the face of goal.
And it was the Irish lad who got Ipswich's goal when he hit a 74th
minute free-kick into Archer's net off the post. He almost grabbed
an equaliser for the home team, when Archer denied both him and Bennett
with good saves. There were chances at each end in added time,
with Coulthirst sliding in to meet a low cross, but he was unable to
control his shot and the ball sailed too high, while Meekings had a
header across goal, with no=one available to touch it in.

After two draws, Spurs recorded their
first win of the season against Ipswich Town at Spurs Lodge.
The first Tottenham goal came in the 25th minute,
following Calum Butcher winning possession and making progress down the
right wing, before crossing for Ryan Mason to finish the move neatly.
Ten minutes later, Spurs were 2-0 up and this time it was Stephen
Caulker who read a pass and picked it off before laying it off.
The ball passed through five Spurs players and ended with Dean Parrett,
who squared it for Alex Olsen to slide past the keeper to give the team
the three points.

A first Under-18 goal for Jonathan
Obika earned Spurs a good point against Ipswich Town at Spurs Lodge. Having gone behind to an early Ipswich goal,
the team battled on and kept working their passes, with Daniel Hutchins
intercepting a pass to feed Obika. The winger struck the ball home
to equalise and as he is an Under-16 and debutant Dean Parrett is an
Under-15, the young team showed a good determination to get back into
the match.

Spurs fought back from 0-2
down against Ipswich Town at Spurs Lodge, only to be denied a point by a
late winner for the Suffolk side.
Ipswich were 2-0 ahead within four minutes of half-time, leaving
the Spurs Under-17s a mountain to climb, but they managed to pull the
score back to 1-2 with Lee Barnard's finish to David Galbraith's cross
two minutes later.
On 60 minutes, Ghyslain Vedeux picked off a back pass and scored
when one-on-one with the keeper to level the scores. Chances were
missed by both sides, but with seven minutes left on the clock, Town
grabbed the winner and took the points.

Tottenham Youth enjoyed
their trip to Suffolk where they defeated Ipswich Town 6-1 in the
South-East Counties Division 1.
Breaking inside from the right wing, Andy Marlowe slid the ball past the
keeper to open the scoring and then Paul Mahorn fired home a left foot
shot from 12 yards out to make it 2-0. Sol Campbell added a third before
half-time, with a shot from a narrow angle.
Ipswich found their way into the Spurs box and
pulled a goal back after the restart, but Spurs went on to record a big

Spurs Youth
travelled to Ipswich Town and won their First Round South-East Counties
League Cup tie 4-2 at Playford.
Two goals in the first half from striker Martin Robinson gave Spurs a
commanding lead, with an Ipswich own goal shortly into the second period
extending the lead. The home side got a goal back, before Garry Bacon
made it 4-1, although Ipswich narrowed the final score-line to 4-2
before the end, but the winning margin could have been even tighter had
Ian Cranstone not saved a Town penalty.
