          Notable Dates

1908 Spurs attended a meeting of the Southern League clubs and wanted to put forward a move to change the League and win support back from the Football League.  The meeting did not back Spurs, who thought this was the last straw and decided to leave the Southern League for the Football League themselves.

Jimmy Pass and Arthur Pickett score their last goals for the club.

1916 John Joyce pays his last match for Tottenham.
1927 Equal biggest losing margin away to West Bromwich Albion.
1938 First FA Cup tie against Chesterfield played in front of the biggest away crowd for a visit by Spurs = 30,561
1944 Biggest home win over Luton Town with war-time guest player Jack Rowley scoring a club record number of goals in a first class game of seven.
1963 Pat Corbett, defender 1980-1983, born.
1966 Alan Gilzean scores a hat trick to help Spurs to a FA Cup win over Burnley.
1977 Equal biggest losing margin in a home match against Manchester United.
1979 Tottenham's first FA Cup tie played against Wrexham, which produced the highest total of goals in a match between the two sides and the biggest home crowd = 27,120
1983 On a day when most other matches were frozen or snowed off, Spurs got their game on and won with a goal from Garth Crooks.
1988 John Smith, half back/inside forward 1960-1964, dies.
2000 Allan Nielsen makes his last appearance in Spurs colours.
2005 Paul Robinson makes his 150th career appearance.
