03.02.1960 Spurs racked up a record score in this Fourth Round FA Cup replay at the Lane, with ten goals to their credit before the half-time interval.

Bobby Smith opened the floodgates in the third minute with John White's corner being shot in off a post, then eight minutes later Les Allen got the first of his five goals on the night.  Ten minutes had gone when Smith made it 3-0, but Tim Coleman pulled a goal back for Crewe before Tommy Harmer knocked home Cliff Jones' cross to keep Spurs three goals ahead.

In the 28th minute, good interplay between Jones and Harmer paved the way for Allen to make it 5-1 and straight from the restart Tottenham broke for Smith to seal his hat-trick and on 36 minutes, he got another goal.  White created Allen's hat-trick goal and the striker scored his fourth before the break, leaving time for Jones to make it 10-1 just before the teams turned around.

Four minutes after the restart, Jones pounced for his second goal, with Allen making it five for his own tally on 72 minutes.  Llewellyn salvaged one back for Crewe straight away, but a Jones penalty ten minutes from time gave him a hat-trick and completed the 13-2 win in front of a big crowd, who paid £8,875 to see the goal feast.

When Crewe returned home by train, they departed Euston from Platform 13 and arrived on platform 2 at Crewe station !!
