| A
sudden propulsion into the first team squad has thrown Rob Burch into
the limelight following a summer in which he got a chance to shine in
South Africa in the absence of Kasey Keller and Lars Hirschfeld.
Having
played a few reserve team matches when the opportunity arose and a
loan spell at Woking in season 2002-03, Rob found that injuries to
both first team keepers put him as number two goalie behind Neil
Sullivan. He played in a number of pre-season friendlies and got
a game out in South Africa, on Tottenham's tour to promote the
country's campaign for the World Cup 2010.
Since
then he has been a regular on the Premiership bench for the club, as
the main back-up to Kasey Keller. His height is a natural
advantage, but he has the ability to put it to good use in reaching
shots into the corners of the goal and he is fast off his line too.
Although currently lacking first team experience, Burch is one for the
future.
